From the sound of it, Brown was quite good at enticing players to the club and selling the city of Newcastle. Not sure if any bridges were burnt, but can't see him returning, especially with Ponga as our captain and locked in for the next 5 years. Bit of a shame.

Reading too much into it all, some coaches quit/sacked but any available assistant is throwing the hat in the ring for full time senior coach so assistant will be anyone left over so sit back and wait

The more I think about it, the more I think the club needs to surround AOB with the right people and build the right roster for success and give him time to work with that. I just don't think that another change of coach right now will work unless it was someone with the pedigree of Bellamy or Robinson but coaches like that don't leave their clubs so it ain't happening.

I think we can all agree that at best AOB is working with a borderline top 8 roster and once again injuries have crippled us, the Brailey injury is probably the biggest one. In fact how many games has our first choice spine actually played together since AOB started coaching the team in 2020? I'd say maybe 10-12 games total in that time. Also most of that time we've had at least 2 of our spine out of action, there have been games when we're relying on 2-3 reserve graders to fill our spine which is pretty dire.

Yes the coach obviously has some say in roster decisions but the club's depth is bad due to junior pathways more than anything else and that's been a problem for a lot longer than AOB's tenure, and now the bloke we brought in to fix that has resigned so who knows what's going to happen moving forward with that.

Ultimately I think consistency and stability is important for the club and chopping and changing coaches again doesn't feel like a great strategy to me right now.

There's still plenty for him to work on as a coach, for sure. But he needs time to develop as a first grade head coach just like a young player needs time to develop into a real first grader.

Agree with a lot of what you said but there are still big concerns around AOB getting the best out of his players and implementing the best structures for success.

Has a lot to prove in the second half of this season.

He took over, he is responsible, sign who he wants cost related, hire his assistants, if they excell then reap the rewards as the one who hired, trained, encouraged, encourage effort from the lower grade coaches players, develop.
Obi coaches like 17 and only seems to promote due to injury, he repeats the same situation each week, players such as Sasagi, Mann, Crossland get promoted no looking for someone to fill a position that has been a constant problem, 14.

AOB says Cameron Ciraldo called him to tell him there's no truth to the rumours linking Ciraldo to the Knights as our next coach. I hadn't seen that rumoured anywhere.

That this rumour has even started is only going to gain momentum if we lose this week. I also think Milford is going to sit back and wait till the end of the year before he makes call on his future. He will have more clubs than just us and the Dolphins wanting to sign him.

The coaching market is fast becoming a high stakes Texas Hold’em Tournament. Who wants what coach and calling bluff to get the man they really want to be coach. Ciraldo is laughing.

lol Ciraldo is not going to go to any of the struggling clubs. Hes 1000% following the Fizgibbon path of waiting for the right opportunity, not just any opportunity. Hes young and has a tonne of time on his hands

Yes we know. The media has been saying this for weeks.
