The modern day Coach isn't really a "coach " rather a Manager - what he has to be good at is surrounding himself with people who not only know how to coach, but are very very good at it.

AOB probably micro manages, his assistants only know what the Provan -Summons Trophy looks like because they've seen it on TV, truly mind blowing.

He needs to get out of that conservative and insecure mindset, stop micro-managing and plot the ships course.

His coaching assistants should be gone at seasons end and a roster overhaul in full swing effective immediately.

Bedsy should have already called Flannagan and be looking for another top assistant.

Or backing up, like a fullback.

He was at dummy half on the fifth tackle 5m out from Parras line for reasons that aren't clear.

Someone else said it, he's got a fascination with Randall's arse parking himself behind the ruck most of the game.
Thanks for the reference. Glad it qualifies to the educated fans:

There is no excuse for today's performance.

1. Ponga just re-signed which is meant to be a big shot in the arm for our club and the team.
2. Big crowd turned up on ANZAC weekend to support the guys.
3. Yes were missing a few to injury now, but the guys out there should have been capable of much better than what they showed.

The obvious issues are why did we play so atrociously? Coach has a lot to answer for there.

Parra weren't super today. They just did enough at maybe 70% of their best and won the little battles and took their opportunities - which helps when you have good structures in place and have built a good squad.

What can AOB say to the team this week before playing the Storm? 'Look guys you have no pressure on you from reserves so I'm going to really need you to play your hearts out for me today. Don't worry about putting on any plays, just do your runs and make you tackles. Oh and Clifford, no crazy kicks, just ensure you get them on the mark so we can set our line to tackle - that's right don't compete for the ball, just make sure you tackle the returner.'

f**k these 5 losses feel worse than our 13 in 2005.

I saw Hages in the coaches box for the Cowboys game. I'm getting ready to send the SOS to him too.

Sorry for the jumbled rant. It was required.
Maybe players resent that Ponga is taking a huge chunk of your salary cap, and nowhere near worth what u paid? hence this performance….

Danny seems too nice. We need more c##ts running the club. Not everyone, but a few.

Absolutely possible. But who has their pulse on the team to see if this may cause a rift before offering the contract?

Hence why this thread exists.

I'm going hard, all in, on the AOB needs to be sacked train. I can't see us winning or improving at all under AOB. He is an assistant through and through. Can get the troops in line and following orders but shouldn't be the one giving them.

There are only 16/17 NRL jobs in the whole world. Surely, there is someone more talented than AOB that can take over.

My pure speculation is that Dan is not happy about losing the captaincy. How can you expect him (and others) to put his body on the line when the captain wasn't/isn't even doing that?

Look how he started last year as the new captain. He was being called the best prop in the game for the first month or so before injury.

AOB says he's been slow to get back into fitness after injury. I just don't buy it. There's some underlying issue going on there..

Why have the Saifiti's gone backwards? Why has Clifford gone into his shell the past month? Why did we train for a wet weather game and have continued to use that gameplan for 4 straight weeks? Why has there been none to minimal progress made by Crossland, Jirah, Randall, Hoy, Best and most of the young players. The only young player who looks improved is Dom Young and Mat Croker, based on limited sample time.

So many questions that shouldn't need to be there. Does another coach fix that? Who knows, but the AOB experiment is nearing its end unless there's a dramatic turnaround, and quick.

Born from the same seed that makes the team decide to take a penalty goal for 2 rather than back themselves and score a try - a conservative insecure coach lacking swagger and confidence.

A fish rots from the head.

Good to see people are on board now. When I started this thread it seemed a lot of people weren’t convinced. You could say things have worsened since I started the thread but my original argument stands; what structure has he implemented? Which players have improved under him? All he talks about is defence and our defence is shithouse.
I've never been convinced.

This team needs a strict task master with standards that wont be compromised. Yesterday they didnt play for him.

I'd be interested to see what a Michael Maguire type coach could do at the Knights.

Madge would probably only last a year, because our mob would cry and complain when they’re introduced to any sort of discipline. Then that would turn into ‘not playing for the coach’

Yes it's crazy.

I just don't know what is going on with the team.

We have a fullback that insists he is a fullback and plays like a half. Doesn't do the basic fullback role as expected of an NRL fullback.

He goes off for a HIA and who do we put at fullback? Our lock forward FFS! Any other NRL team done that? That same lock forward that our attacking structure has been built around apparently all pre season.
Thats the consequence of having a utility on the bench (Crossland) who actually has zero utility value (or any value whatsoever).
