The re-signing was bizarre, he signed a 3 year deal initially, does his ACL like 2 games into his first year, he recovers and looks Ok without being a world beater 3 or 4 games into his second year and they decide they absolutely need to extend him again. How many players sign a new multiple year contract, do their ACL almost immediately and then get a contract extension that quickly?
He's a good bloke and works hard. I'm sure that's all it amounts to. We're probably going to watch Phoenix Crossland try to throw a ball from dummy half for the rest of the year for similar reasons. We're just morons.

Losing the fear of players pricing. themselves out of the club would be a good start. If for example we shopped the Safitis, there would be interest, and we could really go out and find two no nonsense front rowers who just want to be up for it every week. That is where we miss the point. The comfort zone we allow.

This is the club and fanbase which ran Brian Smith out of town for doing exactly what you're describing. We are in the minority on this line of thought, sadly.

To be fair Smith got absolutely smashed by morons in the media who had personal vendettas like dickhead Rothfield and ice cream delivery man Massoud. Those parasites played on the insulated nature of a lot of fans and fed them a bunch of spin. I feel like if Smith had the type of relationship with the media that Ricky Stuart has it would’ve been a whole different situation

I wonder what ever happened to little Sarah Matterson. How she's doing today. I hope she's well. Probably lost the plot as much as the rest of us.

Every time someone brings up Smithy I go into a mild depression. Absolute genius.
Like a lot of geniuses he also had a fair number of flaws that got in the way of his success

Smithy was an absolute Aspy when it came to dealing with other humans, namely his players. Lost the playing group massively by simply miscommunicating or just not doing it at all

I’d like to hope Josh slings her a few free ice creams on his delivery run these days.

Smith got a bunch of reserve graders to play like First Graders. Pretty much every coach we’ve had since has got a bunch of First Graders to play like reserve graders.
We mostly look back at B Smith as the perfect coach, but he definitely had his flaws.

Even with those flaws, he was the perfect coach for us at the time. It's a damn shame he didn't get the full support of the club because he was building things nicely for us.

I had high hopes AOB would have been a stubborn prick not accepting shit like B Smith, but he became a bit soft somewhere along the way.

Not to say I'm writing AOB off for the year, but we really need someone to establish standards and not take a backwards step - IDGAF who gets upset by that stance.

I hope that is sarcasm?
He can spin pass quite accurately on a fairly consistent basis on both sides. I think he's a potential NRL standard No.9. Do you agree with me that we should go back to a 5 metre defensive line? And be more strict on high tackles, that would compensate for the reduction in the lessening of the gap.

5m defensive line would really water down the product and would move the game more toward rugby union which isn’t necessarily bad but it would dramatically change the game.
In regards to Crossland, his overall passing ability is fine, I mean any first grader who grew up playing in the halves should be able to pass a football, his distribution out of dummy half though is a different matter. I would strongly disagree that he’s fast, there were times last year when Crossland was the bench ‘utility’ and we had to move a backrower into the centres to cover for injury because Crossland isn’t mobile enough to defend out wide. In terms of speed I would rate him somewhere between Hastings and broken down Mitchell Pearce.

I shudder to think about our Hit-up effectiveness when combining our lack of mongrel, ordinary dummy-half service, and a five-metre defensive line.

Just curious, has there been a single article from a journalist putting their hand up to say that their criticism of AOB and the club over the bye weekend turned out to be a nothing issue?

Not yet, but that's cause the main complainant currently has himself in some strife

To be fair, Paul Kent has other things to deal with 😂

Ive put the heater on in here, fluffed the cushions and dusted the furniture, welcome.
Ahhh... home sweet home. What's the topic of conversation? Poor bench usage? Staking his career on shit footballers like Mann, Miller, Crossland? The only hooker in his squad being made of glass, and seeing no problem with this whatsoever? Lack of mental preparation?
