Should I have? He has become a really good player after her left. It's not like he was 21 or something and had potential. Wasn't used properly here, was frustrating to watch but knew there was a real professional personality in him.

Looks like we are looking to use Crossland in the Doggie's Mann role. Wonder if it'll work.
Aka hindsight is 20/20.

Did we use Mann wrong? I seem to remember him being a bench utility until the inevitable injuries struck and he was placed in the halves, hooker, lock, centres, wing…

He was a victim of his own versatility and the club’s lack of quality depth. In his last season here, he was allowed to play primarily as a bench utility and had a pretty good year.

Wasn’t he used properly here?

Most were pretty happy he left. The salary cap means we tend to lose players over time. If we are happy to let him go, we can’t complain after the fact he’s succeeding after the fact.

He’s a 14, and that’s how we used him. Not much different to what the Dogs are doing - just a different style of play.

Had the 14 on his back but playing very differently in a far different superior system.

Anyways, happy he is doing well!

I think Mann was pretty solid for the most part here, however I remember he had a massive error nearly every game which always seem to cost us dearly. Wasn’t sorry to lose him.

What is Kurt actually doing differently besides be in a better team? He’s playing the same position. His role is still make tackles, link the play through the middle, and use his footwork through the middle to try to generate ruck speed around tired defenders. He’s just in a team with heaps of forward depth which leverages that depth really well. You’re all talking like he turned into prime Taumalolo or something. The dude plays for 30 minutes. They just have a lot of forwards who are also kind of like him… they go at full tilt, empty the tank, and come off. Hence the line speed, the swarming D, the extra efforts.

For us, we often asked for more like 55+ minutes, because he was being asked to spell the big lumbering forwards, so they could run with more impact when they came back on. So he got more fatigued. Then he made errors.

What would you have done differently? Asked J Saf to play 65 instead of the smaller guy with a better motor?

To be fair anyone who watched Kiraz play Cup for us wouldn’t rate him. His transformation into one of the games best wingers is insane.
He was playing cup as a 19 year old and in my opinion more than holding his own. Don’t forget we had an injury crisis in the outside backs in 2021 where Brayden Musgrove and Kurt Mann were getting regular starts there and from watching NSW cup I assure you Kiraz was going much better than Musgrove.
I remember seeing Kiraz in NSW cup against Blake Ferguson and Josh Mansour and he imo was more than solid
