OT, given Hook is only signed until end of 2022, next year are you extending him
A. Regardless of what happens with results
B. Only if the team is avoiding the bottom four
C. Only if the team is making the finals
D. Only if the team is a premiership threat.

Coaching is a results driven business IMO, very simple to quantify.
My answer would be C.
Don't worry OT, whatever answer you give here, you will be able to say the opposite this time next year and claim you've thought that way all along ;)

You left something out
E: Obvious signs of improvement in all key areas.

In assessing Hook can we not ask the following
What will it take Hook to succeed
A: A significantly more focussed BOD
B: A benefactor capable of providing TPA’s to ensure we are on a level playing field
C: A roster that has a few SOO quality players in key positions.
D: A reserves list playing lower grades that has a balance experience & youth that is capable of playing good quality NRL

If he had some of the above would you in fact be asking me your questions?

In a nutshell we can't have another year of excuses and 40 min footy. This club can't afford that. By the start of next year the coach should have been able to put together a decent side ready to put in 80 min efforts. My faith for one has been tested enough. Listening to all these stories of decades long supporters no longer watching genuinely upsets me.

If he gets us into finals that would be enough for a one year extension. Failing that, honestly the heart the Warriors are showing id welcome our little blonde haired hooker back as coach before giving him another go.
The heart of the Warriors who have been unsettled for nigh on a couple of years now but still giving it their all for the love of the game and the banner under which they play for. Somehow I wish that they beat us before the BBQ fiasco. That BBQ would not have taken place I dare to say and things could have been (I said could) different for us, who knows?

IMO publicly throwing the towel in is the wrong way to go about it. He would know what’s ahead & how near impossible it’s going to be but as a head coach he needs the players, supporters & sponsors to believe in them. It’s part of having a good culture which is part of where he’s trying to take the club.

They dish up schoolboy shit week after week .And the management are shit.
How in the hell can anyone believe in them.

You think the opposition were very good?
Did it have that finals feel for you?
Bro, wake up, don’t be a an apologist for Hook.
It’s gradually getting worse. His selections aren’t making sense, his use of the bench questionable. Bird at fullback? Ramsey at centre?
The opposition last night were poor, we were worse.
To not make the eight after where we were is a failure.
And don’t give me that BS that we’ve overachieved because we were spoon favourites.
It isn’t a good time to be a Dragons fan unfortunately, and next year looks bleak.
Maybe they should ask him.
Why pick shit norman every week.
And shuffling chairs in the team selections .
None have worked.

Picks Ramsey at centre. I mean, literally the entire league can see he's a defensive liability - except Griffin.

We have our best attacking weapons RavMax
Hmm yeah nah, let's get the team the just go down the left side so Norman can do a short side bomb.

Sloan is our future fullback, has been playing well... Nah, don't want him playing footy, let's pick a 2ndrower/centre there .

But hey, it's ok - he's rebuilding
Mind you Sloan plays juniors on the wing..

Improvement
The only thing that counts is in the wins and losses columns.
And we are always on the wrong end if that.
I said after our 4 wins that if we don't go anywhere that's a waste.
Experts said we cant keep playing like that in that good run.
Bashing defence.
Obviously the coach had no plan b
It is means nothing now.

Well in fact it could very well be but that depends on the way we lose games

If we lose them with “honour” and were highly competitive and give ourselves a real chance of winning that would tick a box for me.

The reason is we need to learn how to win and how to do it consistently and that is not going to be easy due the malaise we are currently in.

I would not go as far and say we are “god dammed awful” squad
That is a stretch
Ask yourself the following
How many of our players would top 6 teams take?

How many players from top 6 teams do you wish we had?

Who would you consider in our squad as a must keep at all costs?

Hunt and Ravalawa are two I would not let go. To lose De Belin would be a shame too. As far as the young ones Sloan is a future star.

Happy to trade up on any of the remaining.

That's about it.

There is no point answering all that
I don’t care about the Top 6 squads yet as we are not there
Your comment was god damn awful and I distinctly remember you not saying those words early on this year when we won 4/5
If we were that we would be last and not win a game

At full strength their are worse squads than us in the NRL as we speak v us at full strength
I am not saying we are Top 8 squad nor that we have a good squad
It’s just not god dam awful ..end

I was very upbeat at the beginning of the season and that was not based on finishing top 4, 6 or 8 or winning 4/5 it was based on having a coach superior to our last one and the belief our squad would develop.

Simple point is that very few in the squad have developed and some have been so arrogant that our season has suffered as a result.

Every time we have had injuries, suspensions we have not been able to reinforce our side to make it competitive.

There is a stench in the place and that stench has permeated all aspects of our very existence.

Yes some sides are probably worse than us but that does not preclude our squad from being god damned awful it just means that others are more so.

The analysis of our side should not be from the view point that there are worse it should be from the knowledge that we can't progress with what we have had thus far.

Next year with a few coming there is greater hope that something will flick the switch and we will start to see far better outcomes but if we just held onto what we have we would for sure be candidates for the spoon next year and that is why I say its is god damned awful and that Hook ultimately had no chance given what he inherited.

Hi Old Timer, fully agree with your comments. Rather than saying who would you keep, my question is, even with our best 13 on the park, and taking away our Dragon's bias, who really feels confident going into a game that we can beat let's say Warriors, Cowboys, Sharks, which IMO are only middle of the road teams? I certainly don't. I have no idea if we are going to win by 20 or lose by 20.

Just read an article on FoxSport linking Fanno with the Tigers gig. Webb must be tempted to cut our loses with Griffin & make a serious play for Bennett in 2022.

Griffin must be under pressure given all the off field dramas plus our lacklustre form. We’ve gone from looking good for a top eight finish to now looking like a McGregor era 12th place.

Another issue is our lack of recruitment for 2022 with a number of first grade players moving on this year we’re going to be 5 or 6 players short of a top 30. His approach of recruiting veteran Qld players & Beale from retirement has failed.

Personally I’ve lost faith in Griffin, I don’t see where improvement comes from next year given how mentally fragile we are particularly in defence.

Time will tell I guess but right now I’m very concerned about the state we’re in.
