I think a lot of the issues Griffin has had to deal with he’s brought on himself.

Interesting that Jason Ryles is back in Aust after his English Rugby gig was cut short by COVID. He’s signed with the Roosters next year as Fitzgibbon’s replacement. This means he’s served apprenticeships under Robinson & Bellamy & will be available in 2023. Hmmmm
Would he even contemplate coming back to us though? He certainly will give Robbo a lot of help. He will be able to impart a lot of knowledge about the ways the Storm operates as well to the Roosters.

Let's see how Fitzy goes at the Sharks and then if he is killing it and Hook is not and the Roosters are doing well with Ryles as an assistant, then it might be worth going for Ryles in 2023.

Still a lot of water to flow under Tom Ugly's, Captain Cook and Sydney Harbour Bridges though.

The board would be crazy to not look at possible replacements given the season we’re currently having. We’re putting together a pretty good forward pack for 2022 with further signings still to follow so there’s no excuses for Hook next year.

I think Ryles would be an interesting alternative given his pedigree. As you say if Hook is still struggling by round 6 next year I’d like the club to push the button & move on.

There’s a case to be made to bring in a younger coach who’s served his apprenticeship under the best coaches in the comp. The fact Ryles is a ex Dragon is just a bonus.

I think Cronk has given gigabytes of data to Robbo re the Storm.

Funny enough that the 'data' hasn't revealed a win against the Storm this year (so far), with the roosters losing both their games played (one of which was 46 - 0 in round 16)

Shows how good Bellamy is.
Mind you, I could be wrong, but the Chooks have been without key players in those games.

Bellamy is the supercoach atm imo.

FYI for the round 16 game which they lost 46-0 the team was:

1. Tedesco
2. Tupou
3. J. Morris
4. Manu
5 Suali
6. Lam
7. walker
8. JWH
9. Verrils
10. Taukeiaho
11. Chrichton
12. Tupouniua
13. Liu

14. Butcher
15. Suluka-Fifita
16. Baker
17. Hutchinson

Rooster missing Radley and B. Morris (and others on long term injury like Keary and Collins)
Storm missing Paps, NAS and Grant

Still not a team to be held to 0 though.

Anyway moot point, as we are not even in same ball park as these 2.

Yeah, fair point. I didnt go back and look at the squads and my impression was that Chooks have been down on key troops. Keary and Radley are massive outs for mine, but then again as you point out, Mel were without Grant and Paps. Keary to the Chooks is almost as crucial as Cleary is too Penrith.

I guess that’s the point. The BBQ wouldn’t have happened under Bennett the players had too much respect for him. Griffin was meant to be a disciplinarian which I thought was what the team needed. Instead every week Griffin comes up with different excuses never accepting any personal responsibility.

Said it before we should cut our losses & make a big dollar play for Bennett for next year. Bring Taane Milne with him, he’s yet another player we let go too early. I’m sure he loved scoring against us the other week.
Like what.
way more superior defender; better kicking game both long distance and short placement kicks (particularly in comparison to Linnane) better organising around the park than at least 2 of them and arguably more dangerous in attack.

You are blind man.. no offense. Hunt is a speed bump same as his predecessor Marshall. "arguably more dangerous in attack". I admit he actually looks good when he takes on the line in the 25 zone but all too infrequently. Even the other dud half Clune looked more dangerous in attack last week than Hunt does most games. I grant Linnane is the weak link on my list but no better or worse than Hunt.

Steady on mate. Adam O’Brien served under Bellamy and Robinson. The jury is still out on him. Clearly shown, no Ponga no Newcastle.

Hunt is no slug and defensively pretty strong 1 on 1. Last time I checked he had represented his state and country. Carry on mate, just find something or someone else to criticise over the next month
A slug compared to at least two on my list. A decent kicking game I concede to. Organisation ability nil. Dufty had better than he did. One on one.. see his feeble effort against Fifita two weeks back.. brushed him away like some one swatting a fly. A good defender would have gone low. Last time I looked Morris and Strudwick had also represented their state and country. Criticism no.. constructive analysis.

none taken; don’t know what lens your looking though but i don’t think the other three are in the same class, despite being good first graders. Just my my opinion!

Not as a half tho. The Maroons and Kangaroo selectors know his best position is hooker as all he has to do is pass the ball and kick. Bit of a risk tho having him in the thick of things with his brittle defense.

yes, but not as regularly selected. Morris once from Dapto in 79 and Strudwick late in his career in 75 when playing in the Brisbane comp. Great achievements but slightly different comparisons to Hunt’s ongoing representative career.
