you know something the easiest thing to do is pick on the "weakest kid in the class" and this case The Dragons and the Knights were the "weakest" kids in the class prior to season commence...now that the Dragons are swinging punches and connecting you dont seem the like it - accept the fact that McGregor ha sa better roster this year and is doing the job...Hasler is not Coming, Cleary is not coming so accept the fact that McGregor will most likely be given a 2 year extension ....based on this i think we will scrape into the 8..

We are 3 wins from 4 games... highest scoring team... and 3rd or 4th best defensive. ..
If all other coaches are no longer available and the team is winning games as we are... why wouldnt mary get an extension?
It shouldnt happen now... or even in the next 6 weeks.
But if by round 13 or 14 we are still sitting top 3 and playing really well then its a given it will happen.

I think it is a given that it will happen regardless. The club doesn't appear to be in the market for another coach and has made it quite clear that it sees McGregor as a "career coach"

The "career coach" comment was stupidly made at the end of last season to cover up / justify the mistake of not sacking Mary then and there.
With no offence intended, if you live by the motion of forever holding a club / person to something they have previously said then you living in another world.
The tigers kept taylor on through the farah saga, stood by the coach... 3 rounds in they sacked him.
As iv said many times before (and you laugh at this comment) things change last minute.
I can assure of one thing... the club IS looking at and talking to coaches.
But in saying that, Mary, with the results so far and the way the team is playing, Mary is also in the picture.
I dont agree with Mary as coach, but in the real world, where you work in a results driven enviroment, if the results are there then your job is pretty safe.
If and when the results go bad, action needs to be taken on the spot, ala west tigers.
That's the area we keep f#cking up in.

I think the most galling thing about the inevitable re-signing of McGregor, is that both his (utterly mystifying) supporters, and the sycophantic supporters of Doust & the board, will dare to state that the decision will be based on "results". And they will genuinely believe that notion. Even though, at no stage in the initial hiring of McGregor, nor in his elevation to head coach, or at several times during that awful tenure, have results had even the most remote influence in the decision-making process.

Personally I think Saints should not rush and make the call at the end of the season. If they make top 4 then it will be hard to put a case for a Mary sacking, they will reward him. Top 8 will be 50/50 depending on how they make the 8. If they fail then see ya later alligator. But the need to wait till the end not re-sign when Saints are in the 8 and then end of season they finish 12th. They will look like idiots.

Also if they do extend, put performance based clauses all through it e.g if Saints fail to make the 8 or consistently perform poorly over a period of time, they can terminate the contract immediately with no payout.

We had years of poor results and didnt sack him.
It plain stupid to expect him to be sacked while the team is doing well.
He should have benn sacked last year.
He wasnt.
This year we are doing well so far... no way he gets sacked while we are winning.
Ricky stuart couldnt coach for shit while coaching how many teams over how many years.
Takes the raiders to top 4 last year and now he is seen as a coach that can coach.
If You dont sack a coach thru shitty years then you damm sure dont sack him while the team is winning.

Yeah agree with all of the above. I would like to see them wait until the end of the season to make a decision on McGregor and a possible extension.
Its not like any other clubs will be poaching him from us.

Read this well as it is your last chance!! I agree Mary is 6/10. Mad Rabbit Madge is 4/10. Hasler is 6.5/10. But... We need a coach rated 8.5 or higher. My point was simply do not replace Mary with Mad Madge or Hasler. They are not improvememts.
