Paul McGregor is set to become the longest-serving coach in St George Illawarra Dragons history after reportedly earning a new two-year deal.
The Daily Telegraph journalist Paul Crawley revealed that McGregor, who became head coach of the Dragons in 2014, will be officially re-signed in the coming days.
McGregor's win rate sits at 51 per cent after 118 games at the helm of the Red V, leading the club to the finals twice in that time including last season.
Having inherited a lacklustre roster from the sacked Steve Price due to the hangover from Wayne Bennett's departure in 2012, McGregor has built St George Illawarra into a premiership threat.
He has faced numerous challenges to begin the year including injuries and suspensions but a three-match winning streak has coincided with a fresh contract.
"Paul McGregor's gone through a lot to start this season. There's been the Jack de Belin case, he's lost his skipper Gareth Widdop, but the team has stayed on track," Crawley told NRL 360.

"And as I understand it, 'Mary' has been given a new two-year deal that will be announced later this week.
"It will keep him at the club until the end of 2021 and that will make him the longest-serving coach in the joint venture's history."
Provided he sees out the agreement, McGregor would surpass current Knights mentor and former teammate Nathan Brown's record of 151 games coached for St George Illawarra.
McGregor was once an assistant coach to Brown at the Dragons.
The Dragons, who are in seventh position, take on the Manly Sea Eagles on Saturday.
