Sack mcgregor

We are stuck with the dud coach for 2 years like it or not. Saints will never sack this dude unless he resigns or gets poached by another club. As if that will ever happen.

The Saints only hope of improving this coaching debacle is to get other assistant coaches around him that can implement some change because what they have is surely not working and has not been for far too long.
The supercoach dosen't like listening to anyone, JD could have been a big help for the club but mcgregor hated him because JD knew more about coaching than mcgregor himself, so the club moved him on

Dragons coach Paul McGregor's job is safe, says Phil Gould

Despite the growing fan demands for Paul McGregor to be sacked, Phil Gould feels the St George Illawarra Dragons coach is in no "danger whatsoever".

The results-hungry Dragons army has long been disgruntled with McGregor at the helm but their desire to see him axed ramped up following last Sunday's embarrassing 36-14 loss to the Canberra Raiders.

And with only six wins this year, the media has begun asking questions of McGregor's credentials, particularly after the Gold Coast Titans cut ties with Garth Brennan over the weekend.

But Gould gained an insight into St George Illawarra's inner sanctum during a recent event and believes McGregor, who signed a two-year extension in April, is very safe in his position.

"I actually went to a trivia luncheon down at Wollongong a couple of Fridays ago, it was a tribute to Paul McGregor," Gould told the Six Tackles With Gus podcast.

"They were raising money for a very worthy cause but the theme of the lunch was a tribute to Paul McGregor and all his ex-coaches and teammates and players came to speak on his behalf.

"Because I'd coached him in Origin I got an invite to come down and what I found in that room that included all the old St George and old Illawarra people and all the people around the club, it's a really tight-knit club.

"A really great atmosphere, great enthusiasm and a lot of love for the coach. I don't think internally there's any pressure on Paul McGregor that might even be hinted on from the outside."

Dragons back-rower Tariq Sims on Wednesday said the players needed to shoulder the responsibility for the team's recent form, not McGregor.

And that seems to be the thinking of those in power at the Dragons, with Gould confident the mentor is not even close to having to fight for his job.

"People look at the results of late and they go, 'Well, the coach will end up getting the blame and they'll move him on', because that's what we do in rugby league history," Gould said.

"I didn't feel that when I was in that room down there at the luncheon. He's a very highly respected and regarded person within the organisation. He's played for them, he's coached them, he was involved in various roles before he became a coach.

"I don't think Paul McGregor is in any danger whatsoever."
We're coming third last, it's so kind of big GUS to be rubbing our noses in it. He must be sniggering behind his double cheese and bacon burger

We had one tiny patch of success since David Waite with Benny and thats it? now we continue to celebrate not merely mediocrity but total failure! bizzare mental deranged stupid club sack the lot

I hate to bring religion into it but now I'm sure there is no God.

How can there be a loving God that cares for humanity when we are in a situation such as this with McGregor? I bet we all did some horrible stuff in our past lives to be sent to this universe as St. George fans and cosmic justice has served McGregor to us for our sins.

Think about this alternate relaity in some extra dimensional universe. It is middle of the 2021 season. Mary and crew were all sacked at the end of the 2019 wooden spoon season because in this universe there is a just God. In 2020 Saints made the 8 and put on a good performance in the finals but they were still in recovery mode from the McGregor years. It's 2021 and you drive down to Wollongong to watch the heavily favored Dragons play the Roosters. There's the guy they put out in front of the club a few hours before the game to make sure you have a proper pass for parking. You pull up and it's Mary!! He's checking tickets and then offers the game day car detailing special.

That's right, they fired his ass from coaching but no release for this guy. How good is this? You get a good team, can enjoy watching League again and when you go down to Wollongong for a game and return to the club for a post game beer your car is perfectly detailed by Mary and his crew, because he's the right man for the job.

You chat for a bit and Mary is wanking about how he has to detailed over 10,000 cars before they'll release him from the contract. It's a just universe so the club still has to pay out a shit load of money because they f**ked up resigning the 85 minute f**k at the beginning of the 2019 season but at least we get some clean cars. Think of it as some Mr. Miyagi training Mary.

What's the count so far?

The count? Mushroom prints? I've been busy and away from the forums but from the latest he deserves one for the "best man for the job comment" and another one for the "85 minutes away" delusion he's still peddling. That's two mushroom prints and the Dragons haven't lost to Penrith yet and the excuses started flowing in the post game presser.

For the first time in my life I'm wanting the Dragons to lose.

"We were only 85 minutes away from a grand final last year"
Why!!!???
What a fricken stupid thing to say. Clutching at straws!

Personally, I am very indebted to Mary for getting us 85 minutes away from a grand final. What an incredible achievement, one that is the pinnacle of rugby league and one I will tell the grand kids when I'm older. "I was there to see the Dragons when they finished 80 plus another 5 minutes from lining up in a grand final".

I'll leave out the bit that Mann and Hunt screwed it up again, and that I actually haven't seen a McGregor team ever put in a complete 80 minute performance during his complete tenure as coach...

Let's get rid of not only McGregor, but the coaching staff as well. They are Craig Young
Number 1...
Ben Ho
Yes Gus Mercurio Gould, paul mcgregor is so brilliant Wayne Bennett showed him the door the first day he came down from Queensland. It's the swill trough dwellers that brought him back so they can all stick their snouts in. Too buisy being matey matey paly paly to worry about being a professionally run organization. Vomit alright.
How true. Well said.

These days you got to say Jobs for the Boys & Girls.
Kezie Apps & Sam Bremmer have jobs with the club and good luck to them. There will be more Dragon girl players be invited to work for the club in some capacity...one day we might have one as a board member

I know it is counter intuitive in this forum but go Saints tonight we are potentially only 880 minutes away from a grand final . But that plus 80 minutes from another off season of soul searching.

There's really nothing left to be said at this stage. The team's performance, once again, says it all.

The easy-beats of the competition.
