Again , the board will accept Mary's excuse that injuries , not inept coaching , cost us any chance of making the 8.
Remember most logical supporters only gave a pass mark to Mary if we made 4 - 6 and a star if we made top 4. Surely going backwards with the team he wanted shows to all that players will not be resigned and that should also apply to the coach , only he gets a years pay for doing nothing !

He's gotta go.

It will be interesting to see who replaces Dugan and Marshall, this will see if he has the guts to blood one of our juniors

If he brings back Lafai, then i would be most disappointed.
He made a call. Stick with it.

Timoty had had a long time to prove his worth. I think he's injured.

Mann to the wing ( where he did very well ), Flo to FB, and Milne into the backline.

Feel he will bring in McCrone to accompany Gaz.

Probably a good chance for the JDB show to show us his wares again :)
(Pink text required but not certain Mary won't pick him at half)

Every week I hope for something different from the Dragons and every week about 20 minutes in I realise we are as lacklustre and disjointed in attack as ever. Then it becomes a matter of our defence holding up and whether we can can grit out a try and maybe kick enough penalties to grind out a win. Win, draw or lose I am feeling empty and unsatisfied as a fan who expects the best.

It is boring.
We will NEVER attain anything more than mediocrity.
It is embarrassing.

I have never wanted to look away from a Dragons game, not even 70-10, until last game where I had to switch off at half time.

We have had a succession of two incapably hopeless rookie coaches to thank for this. We could sign Cronk, Hayne, Norman and Foran in the off season and nothing will change. This guy doesn't have what it takes to have success in the NRL. No simpler way to put it. I want us to remember this when the team run out tomorrow night. Wait for Mary's excuses after tomorrow's game - "No Dugan, no Marshall..". It actually doesn't matter if they play the way his game plan is set up.

SACK THE COACH.

Sack the coach and another rookie will be hired.

If you haven't realised by now the board are the biggest issue the club has and will continue to have.

They hire and fire these people yet take no responsibility for any failure.

Peter Doust is either very arrogant or very stupid.

No doubt, but at least the board have the runs on the board for hiring Bennett. McGregor, nice guy and all, is killing us. Price dismantled us and he has finished the job but turning us into the rabble we are today. And not once has he accepted any responsibility.

Still waiting for my reply from Mr Doust.

What success? Losing 2 grand finals coaching teams with consistent year to year patterns of wildly erratic form? Cleary is a dud. Better than Mc Gregor, but still a dud. There has to better options than Cleary.

He coaches a team to a grand final, wins coach of the year 2014 and he's a dud?

Your idiocy offends me.

Let's have a closer look at his amazing "success". Both GF years he coached a team that played with much the same inconsistency as they do every year except come finals time they managed to jag a few wins in a row and go in a run to the GF. And then said team offered up 2 lame GF performances. 2014 coach of the year? What was 2012, 2013 and 2015 like? They also gave one of those coach of the year awards to Kevin Moore once upon a time...

Your contentment with average offends me.

What was this second Grand Final year? He only made the Grand Final in one year, 2011. So already you've demonstrated poor rugby league knowledge.

Ivan Cleary has demonstrated that when given the proper squad he can take teams deep into the finals, he's done this at two different clubs. His time at Penrith was severely hindered by injury.

Since when is being a "dud" considered average.

Being "mediocre" really sucks........................in a lot of ways, its better to be real bad for a season and then management has no choice but to make changes or it will impact on them as well.

Agreed we need a coach and most would be an upgrade, but I think we really need to "clean out" our playing roster under a new coach and pretty much start again as the nucleus we currently have (even under a new coach) doesn't seem to possess the ability to consistently play at any kind of high level.

With this in mind, I'd like to suggest "moving" our so called marquee players and start giving our up and coming juniors a try?! The people I'd consider moving on are as follows:

  • Dugan (yes Dugan!);
  • Creagh;
  • Farrel;
  • Marketo;
  • Lafai;
  • Marshall;
  • Thompson;
  • Widdop (yes Widdop!);
  • Rein.
I don't profess to have all the answers (ha, far from it), but the Manly debacle made me realise that I'd prefer to support a team that gave 110% every weekend were young and enthusiastic and made us proud that they were wearing the Red V, than what we are experiencing at present.

That said, all this is great, but without changes in the back office and breaking up the "old footballers glee club" that current runs the administration, I feel we are in for much of the same! Here's hoping the private investor rumored to now own 50% really ROCKS THE BOAT!

One lone voice, crying in the wilderness..........................

Back to the Price Years. I can't believe they had a option between Henry and Mary and they chose Mary. I knew that would come to bite us. He improved the team when Price left but hey they could not get any worse. Now they are back there again.

Our Board must only look at the table and not pay attention to any games. They are coming 8th which is really flattering considering how bad they have played.Realistically they should be 12th at best.

Demitriou needs to be at least considered for the remaining of the year. He is doing well at the Cutters and they play such a better brand of footy. Obviously he has no say in FG. What Mary says goes and that is what is killing them.

Clearys time at Penrith was severely hindered by injury, but I've always thought he was a big part of the cause of it. I don't think he managed the development of that young squad particularly well, and pushed them to the point where many broke down. You didn't see that sort of carnage at any other club.

I'd be wary of Cleary for that reason alone.

Please,Bennett fell into our lap and the back ended deals help nscrew the club when Bennett left.The board should have hired an experienced coach to over see the inevitable player departures and move into a new era.
But no,they hired Price and now today you can see the runs on the board of this board.

To be fair they did make a major play for Bellamy. It also doesn't help that Bennett has a habit of letting every club believe he is going to sign with them right until the 11th hour. He's burned us twice in that regard, as well as Souths and Roosters.

But yes Price was a shocking decision from the board, followed by McGregor just to make things worse.
