You are correct

McGregor was clearly just anticipating a question about Widdop being released before the end of the year, but really he was just being asked about why his rotations are so stupid

McGregor was asked why is Hunt being moved to hooker when you paid good money for him to play halfback, to accomodate Norman who you signed to accomodate Widdop who is going to leave?

The answer essentially started with Widdop is not going to be released earlier

IT DOESNT TAKE A RHODES SCHOLAR TO SUGGEST TRY NORMAN AT FULL BACK THIS YEAR AND LEAVE WIDDOP AT 5/8 SPINE INTACT FOR THE WHOLE GAME .....DUFTY WILL GET HIS CHANCE THRU INJURY .......
Of course, both options are there however, one needs to decide which year are we really targeting as our big chance to win the comp.

With the 0-2 start to the comp, the chance we may lose De Belin for all this season, Frizell being out for 6 weeks along with the form of Widdop at fullback, and many of the rest of the players fatigued after a heavy off-season, it may be too taller task to have a shot at the 2019 season. This being the case we should leave Norman at 6 to develop a combination with Hunt.

Ohhh you poor soul

Saints spine has a slipped disc (Aitken) and other more minor muscular- skeletal issues (Widdop playing out of position, Ravalawa coming to terms with the pace and pressure of NRL, Norman trying to get a combo going with Hunt and Hunt trying to live up to his $1M per year paycheck.for being a dominant halfback- and failing.
