Salary cap under control

Hey people my little equation on how I think we can afford Sam and Gi and have a good balanced team.
You guys can put names to my cap equation and see how you go.

The cap for 2016 is 6.8 million

2x950k = 1.9 million
3x480k = 1.440 million
10x240k = 2.4 million
4x120k = 480k
2x100k = 200k
4x80 = 380k

25 players for 6.8 million this is without third party deals.

You've only allowed for 5 guys in the squad to earn 480k or more. Sam, G.I, George, Tom, Reynolds, Keary and Sutton would all more than that.

The drop from 480k to 240k is to big. Guys like Grant,Mcqueen and AJ would all be earning in the 300s.
The numbers we come up with on forums are pure guess work but when you been around the game long enough you have some idea as to what players are earning. Doing the numbers on our squad you can start to see why we're gonna have to do a bit of surgery on our roster.

I thought the cap is 6.8 million for 2016.

If it's 6.1 million for 2016 like you think it is we are in some trouble.

If we take the $6.8 mill salary cap and divide it equally among a 25 man squad it comes to $272k each, given that, I would not be likely to pay much over $700k for any of the top players lest it leave the rest of the squad too weak.

Sam 600k I reckon (then lots of TPA's)
AJ 250-300k
Auva'a 350k
Goodwin 250k
Oldfield 150k

George 450k (then TPA's)

McQueen 300k (shopping him around but will have to pay part of contract)
Grant 350k (could be going too)

Sutton cheap (been with Souths so long so costs us pretty much nothing)

Turner cheap
Clark cheap
Brown cheap
C. Walker cheap

That's for 23 players.

Souths are just a bit over imo. Greenberg has said Souths problem can be fixed quite easily too.

Get rid of McQueen and Grant and we will be right. (Possibly Grevsmuhl as Penrith are very interested in taking him early).

We have juniors ready to step up (80k they will get) in Musgrove, Olive, Gosiewski, Whitelaw, Simone.

We also have B. Gray, H. Hunt, Crichton, Goolagong, Murray and Saumamao.

It's good talent coming through.

Souths will be allright.

Isn't the cap 6.8 million in 2016???



Alien this is my calculations with a 6.8 million cap in which we are over imo.

If it's 6.1 million for 2016 we are probably about 700-800k over. Even if I'm wrong we still have to be at least 400-500k over if it's 6.1 million. f**k!!!!!

I didn't think Cook would cost that much.

Cook I would have thought would be on 220-250k. What do you reckon???

We may have to offload Keary for Cody at the end of 2016.

If Cody gets some games in 2016 due to injuries in our halves and he performs well, it very well could be bye bye Keary.
