You release these duds and pay some of their wage and then sign some decent players or not lose juniors. Or you keep them and put up with their shit for the remainder of their contracts.

Facts are that they should never have been signed or granted extensions on their existing contracts.

Mindset of the current board...Let's Blame the NRL let's blame the previous management as scapegoats but take no responsibility for the terminations / releases of all those deals.

So you would have kept the players on those contracts ? Was that the best way forward Jake ?

Yeah, I would've negotiated releases that weren't at the detriment of cap. Otherwise you have to put up with it. But it's obvious they didn't know how to manage the releases, this board stuffed us. The point has to be made, they released players, went over the cap and were still coming LAST. It's a joke.

I'm not sure how that journo at SMH would know who is being paid what and by whom.

Well the point is our current management also need to be held accountable with decisions made that affect our current and future cap...
For eg: Reimis Smith was signed to a 3 year deal and has been released to the dogs 6 months later... The current management also chose to release Jacob Loko which has affected this years cap...

Maybe we should focus on fixing the issue rather than finger pointing at people that were there before

Wow our dicknose CEO thinks we are dumb. He says "players that were signed under the previous administration" but what he doesn't say is "players that were released under the CURRENT administration" .....and that's because this salary cap drama is down to them And how they released all those players and payouts.

Surely the salary cap mess WOULD not HAVE HAPPENED

Last year, the Eels paid out $750,000 to eight players no longer at the club ? Reni Maitua (Canterbury), Jacob Loko (Canterbury) Daniel Harrison (Manly), Jordan Latham (Manly), Cheyse Blair (Manly), Jake Mullaney (Salford), Matt Ryan (Wakefield Trinity) and Brayden Wiliame (Newcastle).

But it's Roy's fault lol

So no responsibility on those who signed off on their termination and pay outs which in affect caused this mess??

Haven't we covered where this rot started?

The names in bold came off the overhead projector? Save Loko. Stuart and Spags have that lot right?

Loko is the same issue with a bigger price, which is on BA, I presume to for the same purpose as the other nuffies but we freed up a 25 spot for Semi (my best guess). You could argue that Loko shouldnt have been on the cash that is reported which cannot be BA's fault.

Again Jake, can't see how you would say the previously lot are not at fault or more importantly, how you can say that the current mob and gone anywhere near as bad as the previous lot were / have turned out to be.

Or have I just bitten?

I get your point, but is a 20s contract anywhere near as bad and NRL, perhaps its relative but could we also no be considering that Remis/Dogs and Parra have struck a deal which ends well for all? Does it always have to be one party getting the arse?

Eg Sandow/Gordon deal, seems if that happens, noone is really disadvantaged?

I'd like to know how the hell Lee Mossop is still getting payed. The bastard came over for a 12 month holiday, says i want to go home, but i want you to pay me still and we say OK. Obviously there is more to it than that but all reports were he was homesick and wanted to go back to England. Surely we would not have to pay out a contract when the player instigated breaking it

And I think Barry had a mild seizure. :D

Mild seizure? I can hardly feel my left arm :)

Seriously, I just don't see how hard it is to understand that the core problem is that we committed too much to salaries for 2014, and that most of that commitment happened well before 2014 (Peats was the last major signing in July 2013). Given that we were apparently overcommitted, the releasing of players didn't cause us to exceed the cap. To the extent that those players are replaced by others with salaries less than our share of the released players' salaries, it saves us $$ on the cap. E.g. If we believe Loko was contracted for $440k for 2015, we move him on and keep paying him $150k (for instance). The player who enters the Top 25 is on $110k. Our cap expenditure is reduced by $440k - $150k -110k = $180k. So, in this case, as long as the replacement player is on less than $290k a year, we save on the cap(or alternately, if we are paying Loko 200k, the replacement needs to be on 240k or less). The replacement player may, however, suck dogs balls.

But again, the problem comes from the decision to sign players to contracts that ballooned in 2014. And I'm sure 3P probably inherited similar problems from the clowns before them. But at some stage it has to stop.

Rant over.

Time to beat the Panfers.
