 Agenda driven, you don't have a clue. My agenda is a strong Parra I couldn't give a f**k about the factions. I didn't vote for anyone last election, I don't even live in the state. I am a leagues club member but can't vote because we don't do proxy voting. Something else this board promised but put it in the too hard basket. I'm just sick of this club being the laughing stock of the league. You don't think we won't be again if we start on - 4???

Minor correction. I think it was 3P that said they would investigate proxy voting. No one would have promised it seeing it is against the registered clubs act.

I stand corrected, i thought it was also a Parrafirst promise. I know Phil did talk about it when he was helping Sharpies Boys get elected maybe they didn't take it to the elections.

Hiney, do you think sharp and the board have received legal advice on this matter???? I mean we've served our punishment in the fine, and now by all reports we are cap compliant. Seems like the NRL is now pushing us into a corner and basically blackmailing us.

I always thought we were given the punishment, but it was up too us to prove why we shouldn't be given the 4 point fine. It wasn't just about the cap it was a governance issue as well.

That right (sort of). We we're given a 4 point deduction as part of the punishment for breaching the cap, with the opportunity to have that part of the punishment waived if we met the required governance reform criteria by Feb 29. So while we weren't explicitly punished for 'poor governance' in the past, it was recognised that this contributed to the cap breach and we were given an opportunity to reduce out punishment if addressed the systemic problems to the league's satisfaction.

Why would the PNRL board have to be electable?

Pou asked whether splitting the Boards would enable proxy voting. Splitting the Boards doesnt make the PLC board or its constitution any different than it is today and it, the PLC, would still required to meet the registered clubs act (i.e. no proxy voting).

There isnt an election held for PNRL board so it would need to be electable in order to initiate proxy voting or what are merkins voting for?

How else would they do it? Appointed by the NRL? :p

7 man board - All 7 members appointed by PLC. Is there any stipulation in any constitution that says that the PLC Board is to be the same as the PNRL board?

Or, if the NRL wants their way - 4 to be appointed by PLC. 3 to be appointed by NRL.

Eitherway, no election for PNRL board required.

Not sure if I can post this here but anyway; I don't usually agree with that Phil bloke from the other site but he made a good post (IMO) explaining the situation on page 8 of the 'NRL refusing to budge despite Eels' request' thread.

What is this long term gain? More factions continuing to try to get a stranglehold of control every 3 years at election time?

And what is it about the NRL's recommendations do you think are bullshit? They are trying to improve stability and transparency. What don't you like about that?

how can you have stability with yearly elections?

Because only a small amount of the board are up for election each year. Therefore you can't get 'tickets' eg. 3P or ParraFirst, working together to get a majority on the board and causing major disruptions to the club. This way 'if' there is a change in board position (and there might not be) it will have less effect on the makeup of the board. And the likelihood of a change in board member is far less than if you had a ticket all running together at once
