Sam Mac on the comeback trail

I was devastated for Sam during the game today when Sam thought he had done his knee again (the trainer also seemed to think so and I thought called for the stretcher). I thought it might have been the end of his career then and there.

Thankfully it looks like it was just a scare. It would have been such a terrible way to go out.

He's been really strong for us in his first two games back.

He's almost been our best forward which is crazy afteer so long out. Really hope it's nothing big and he has a good year.

Was just about to make a thread for this guy.

My heart was in my mouth when he went down yesterday. Was so happy watch him run back into the line unassisted.

I'm genuinely surprised he has come back this strongly. Hope it continues because he deserves it.

2 game back he has been good.
I thought he may start slow or be eased back in but nope he hasn't let us down.
He has exceeded my expectations. I didnt think he could ever get back to this level letalone pretty much starting at it.

Tamou needs to watch out. He could very well be our worst prop if JFH and Sam keep improving there. RCG passed him well and truly already.

Another sub 100m game from our star prop yesterday

Tamou was fine. He does the hard yards at the start and makes more tackles than RCG and misses fewer.

Scans for Sam McKendry tomorrow after knee scare but any fears it is ACL related has been shut down by the club. @NRLcom

Thats now wrong. The club's initial information was wrong.
Sorry for the repost yesterday. Even though he played on sometimes you just don't know.

Scans have revealed Panthers prop Sam McKendry suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during the Panthers win over South Sydney on Saturday.

The 28-year-old, who tore the same ACL in 2016 and 2017, will now seek specialist medical advice about his best options for recovery.

McKendry suffered the injury while being tackled in the 42nd minute of Saturday's game at Panthers Stadium.

"It's unbelievably sad news for Sam and his family," Panthers Executive General Manager Phil Gould AM said.

"He has worked so hard on overcoming this injury before.

"It's a huge blow for our club as well. Sam really looked like he was getting back to his best.

"As always we will ensure Sam gets the best of medical advice and care. But sometimes this game just isn't fair."
