My point exactly, and add in Reddy's try last night.

I was suggesting people were knee-jerking after he struggled against the Titans/Dogs (?) but there's so many short-comings to his game.

League fans have such a short memory. Last week he was the greatest thing ever, this week he's been put on the plan back to England.

When he plays well they go quiet, when he doesn't they all cone out to thump their chests.

Says a bit about how up and down he's been that the debate is still ongoing.

Personally not fussed, he's still the best fullback we have and paying him hasn't cost us anyone we wanted to keep. His positives outweigh his negatives in the majority of games he's played. As long as he works on the weaknesses.

He wasn't good last week. I admit he had a half decent patch about 3 weeks ago but he was awful defensively last week. And last night was one of his worst games.

Yet. But it could. And who knows what players you could have made an effort to recruit this year or next year or the year after that you can't because you're paying 800k for a guy worth 300k.

Worth 300k. Seriously, if you're going to exaggerate to try and weight an argument in your favour don't bother trying to argue with me. You should know better than that Hoppity.

Let's talk about players we tried to make an effort to recruit in recent times

Carney
Matai
Chambers
Luke
Moa
Hiku
Proctor
Hoffman - one out of 30 ain't bad.
and no doubt many more...

Making an effort has never been the issue, it's finding players willing to come over here that's always the issue when they could get the same money without having to pack up and leave.

So by all means, keep talking about effort to recruit as if we've been sitting idle on our hands for the past couple of seasons. The reality is much difference, but I don't expect you to use anything resembling fact when it doesn't suit the agenda you're trying to push.

He's barely dropped a bomb since week 2-3. His errors are coming elsewhere. Not a great game last night off the back of a great game the previous week.

Tomkins wasn't great last week.
At all.

It was the same old stuff with lots of nice touches on attack and a few really dumb mistakes with it.

Perhaps I did, got his though, and it's a sound one

If Aragorn ever makes a sound point, it'll be purely be accident.

Seriously though, this whole conversation is pretty cyclic.

Anyone know if hes had injuries during his time in sub-Super League? wondering what his history is as he doesnt have the explosive speed you see on all those Youtube videos where hes carving up.....he's a bit similar to Billy Slater.... who I think has lost speed from a mixture of injuries and old age...

Must be a pom hate thing, both at the game and watching on reply he looked decent enough. One poor pass and a couple of lovely ones. One dropped bomb and a couple of tough catches, couple of one on one try saving tackles. Not exactly sure what he did so bad, at least he made it through to the end of the game despite getting smashed, better than two souths fullbacks managed!

He pretty much avoided injury up until last year. Missed a decent chunk towards the end of the year and his form was down on what it had been. From the start of June last year he basically was only risked in games that were knockouts, or big matches (vs Leeds, Warrington).

To summarise the difference before and after injury in SL/CC in 2013
Before: ~1.8 tries per match
After: ~0.4 tries per match
Obviously other matters come into it, but with moving so far (it's pretty much always been the case over here that imports take a year to settle) and coming back from his first long-term frustrating injury, a poor start was to be expected. He's been well below what he should be the past couple of weeks, no doubt though.

It's not that he's awful, it's what he has supposed to be like...

That's a fair point. We get it. We were expecting him to be better at this stage than he is, and not make the seemingly simple errors that he does.

However, I still think he is a bloody good fullback, and an upgrade from Locke.
