Yeah, definitely disappointed. Hope he can finish his time with us playing some good football. He definitely adds something to our team when he's on the park.

Funny thing, the warriors tend to lose a few too home sickness.

But you get RTS on the same basis.

Yeah money is involved, but he stated it was a huge factor, who does not want to be with family.

Upgrade IMO.

Sam goes alright but.

remember over here in uk 80s and 90s aussies and kiwis seemed to come over here in twos or threes to the same club- eg Kemble ohara at hull - mark laurie craig izzard at leeds-many times the 2nd player was much less talented or high profile than the 1st but I think there was some method in the madness- if Tomkins had another wigan lad with him things may be different- hope he gets back soon and has a good season, the missing link has been all too evident since injury between Tomkins and Johnson

Went well for us the first time with Platt, Betts and Bell

Tomkins, with Johnson, the most over hyped under delivering players in the NRL - and we have both

Sam Tomkins is a very good full back. What a pity that he hand his partner didn't have the fortitude to stick it out in Auckland. Maybe being English they didn't make many close friends in a team which was a majority Polynesian.

Hoffman would have played with him at Wigan and so too Leuluai so it's not like he went to a club where he didn't know anyone. He'll probably end up in union.

Warriors have come out of this so far in front it's not funny.

Get rid of the only above average pom and upgrade to a future superstar.

Winning!

Enjoy the shitty surrounds of Wigan, Sam.

Tomkins left plenty on the field.

Kudos to him for having a go but, some English players would rather stay in the UK at risk of being found out.

As others have said, RTS is a huge signing, Warriors have done well out of it.

Shows you how relatively simple it is to dominate the ESL. He is an okay fullback, good on his 'good days'...but wouldn't even be in the top half dozen fullbacks

Comes from being an isolated club. I've noticed Kiwis who go to Canberra and Newcastle in particular sometimes return for the same reason, those in Sydney not so much because they probably have a bigger support network around them. But I think it's illustrative of the unique challenges and advantages the Warriors have around recruitment, recruiting young Aussies and Poms is always a risk in that they'll end up wanting to go home after a couple of years, targetting kiwis or older pros like Hoffman and Price is the safer option.

I find this mentality bemusing. Until a few days ago, most Warriors fans were talking Tomkins up, particularly how our attack doesn't work without him executing his sweep play tip ons. Now he goes, and I think this is the first I've seen a Warriors fan lay into him as over-hyped.

I generally 100% agree with JJ but not here. He wasn't overhyped, I think we were all hopeful but realistic he was unproven in the NRL and therefore was a gamble. It hasn't been worth the outlay, I think we'd all generally agree. He looked great v the Eels and I thought he was looking like smashing it this year - quite likely with the view he knew it was his last year.

The club must've known by monitoring his general persona, his trips back, his tweets, relationships etc that he wasn't likely to fulfil his 3 years.

didn't he get mom in the 1st game this season? didn't warriors collapse when he went off injured? haven't they lost every game since hes been injured?

I've always said he was overhyped - people have varying views - but we were led to believe he was Inglis, Slater, Hayne calibre and patently he's not.

That said, he's been decent, and certainly the evidence is clear he's key to our attack - shame he's leaving when I think he'd improve more. That said, RTS should turn into a much better player
