Indeed, I knew he wouldn't be the world beater he was in England but he's a different style of FB too what I expected.tomkins was great for us this season. dunno where all the hate comes from
Time will tell, performing at a high level in a couple of tests is quite different to the full NRL season... history has quite a few that performed very well in handfuls of higher level games, but struggled to produce the same week-to-week.
In saying that, Tomkins was ok/good, as was Johnson. (Guess Tigers fans will look at Adam Blair)
Even the off season can't bury this thread.
How Tomkins performs will have a lot to do with how the forwards perform. We saw what Johnson could do behind a strong consistent pack in the four nations, and if the pack and SJ are on the front foot Tomkins won't have any issue getting involved and making an impact.
I have my doubts about whether the pack can do that, but more inconsistency will result in more of the same next season.
