Sam Tomkins: coming to an NRL club near you

tomkins was great for us this season. dunno where all the hate comes from
Indeed, I knew he wouldn't be the world beater he was in England but he's a different style of FB too what I expected.

I thought'd he'd be similar to Hayne or Inglis, where he'd dick around for 80% of the match and then pull off a great play or two. He's more of a gritty, unrefined sort of player though, I love it.

Time will tell, performing at a high level in a couple of tests is quite different to the full NRL season... history has quite a few that performed very well in handfuls of higher level games, but struggled to produce the same week-to-week.

In saying that, Tomkins was ok/good, as was Johnson. (Guess Tigers fans will look at Adam Blair)

Effort/minutes played he's better value than all but the best, behind a disciplined Dogs pack the Poms would have him wearing a Golden Boot

Tomkins was a hell of a lot better in one year than Blair was in 3 for the tigers.

Tomkins did okay for his first year. The 2nd and 3rd Years should be very interesting. Having a full pre season with the Warriors unlike this year should do him wonders. Now as a fan I'll be expecting some strong performances or else ill have to agree we paid way too much. He should be able to prove all the doubters wrong

Even the off season can't bury this thread.

How Tomkins performs will have a lot to do with how the forwards perform. We saw what Johnson could do behind a strong consistent pack in the four nations, and if the pack and SJ are on the front foot Tomkins won't have any issue getting involved and making an impact.

I have my doubts about whether the pack can do that, but more inconsistency will result in more of the same next season.

Absolutely 100% agree. Chances are we'll see posters here knocking him again next year, we'll also see Johnson getting labelled as inconsistent, yet none of the experts knocking these two will notice how ordinary the pack is that they have to play behind week after week.

Yup, for me the question was never "is Tomkins worth it" the question has always been "have the Warriors invested the money in the right positions".

You knew from the first days here he'd be breaking contract after the second year at best.

Was very average after top 8 teams last year, started very strong this year but obviously we've had hardly any use of him.

So proves to be a pretty ineffective signing.

Actually a bit gutted he is going tbh. Would have loved to see him at five eighth, where I think he would have excelled. Still, it's an upgrade for us.

Solid player on superstar money, plus the massive transfer fee. Warriors did not get their moneys worth.
