If Osbourne came out and said exectly what we did offer him, he would look as dumb as Russell and Souths.
Denying what Crowe tweeted didn't require Osbourne to reveal what Sandow was on.. Point is he never denied it, which means you guys probably did pay at least 500k. 400k + 100k third party agreements or something like that. 400k is still a lot of cap space for someone as inconsistent as Sandow

From what I just read Osborne has not denied Eels paid 550k. All he said was "We've think we've got him at a reasonable price". Clever wording but if it wasn't 550k he would've straight out denied it. Crowe would know what he was offered cause Souths would've had the chance to match it.

you obviously don't have a clue so I'll try and explain it for you, club CEO's very rarely disclose what they pay players as they still compete for other players in the market, Rusty actually did us a favour by telling the world that we're spending 550K because it would give other clubs the impression that we don't have as much to spend as we would like.

And so what, just why exactly are you concerning yourself so much about it? Are you really hurting that much?

Could argue Souths paying for a motza for an outside back isnt the wisest of moves either

at lease we are paying overs for someone in a marquee position and that we desperately need improving on. Time will tell if its a good move. To date from where I sit, the Inglis one aint

He's still in his early 20s. Give the kid a break.

That said, he looks like he started finding some consistency late last year and this year he's been very good. He looks consistent to me.

The top players are on $700k or more including third party deals. Sandow could be up there with them (for quality) as early as this season - he really has that much ability. Imagine how he'll go when Kearney gets the bullshit out of his game.

while everyone else is focused on the money its good to see its a 4 year deal gives us some time to wrap him up in the future if he fires for us

Nope, the money for Sandow will come out of next years cap, the only way we can use this years cap is to extend current contracts then we can front load them and pay them out this year.

Or sign a new player or two for the remainder of this season and do likewise: use this years cap to front load their contracts and pay the balance of the contract out over the following years.

Too long a deal, too much money...

Off the cuff player with little direction or strategic game play.

150-200k a year player tops.

Our recruitment is the pits.

but when he kicks the ball it usually lands where he wants it to compared to robbo and morts surely thats worth an extra 100k?

Jarryd Hayne I would like you to meet your new partner in crime, his name is Chris Sandow

For the believers, how good are we going to be next year when attacking the opositions line. Does the oposition, gang up on Hayne thus leaving room for Sandow to run the ball or do they number up one on one on Sandow and Hayne, thus give Hayne the opportunity to go one on one with the oposition. Or do they came up fast giving Sandow the chance to kick behind to Burt on the fly. Gee I am getting excited

That's right. He'll be almost 27 when this contract expires.

The deal he signs after this one will be the biggest of his career and will see him through to the start of his decline as a player (about age 30).

You'd think we'll be in the driving seat to lock him up when this deal runs out at the end of 2015 - he'll be at the peak of his powers and the club should be in a strong position by then.

He might also hold us over a barrell. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

I can't believe all the conjecture over what he is getting paid..we need a quality halfback and a signing that will lead to others, sandow is exactly the boost parra needs regardless of his pay packet..congrats to the eels management for pulling off a great coup and btw..sucked in rusty and souths u whinging girls!!!!
If he plays to a Marquee standard then he's worth every cent If he's on the "rumoured" amount.

Not really sucked to us we lost a bidding war, its just a shame Richo and Rusty carried on like someone stole their lollypop.

Parra have just signed a very good halfback who will develop into a rep player

The other positive about him - he doesn't get injured. Doesn't sound like a lot but having a half that is not injured constantly will be a big plus.

You're a class act Sugar (no sarcasm), always nice to see a quality supporter like you.

Now we just have to suck up the rest of 2011. Kearney is laying the foundations slowly and I look forward to seeing what he can bring to Parra with a real halfback.
