it's about time the knights next crop stepped up anyway, rochow korbin tariq stockwell, there's enough of a core there to build on.

They still need a leader though. Hopefully Tariq being the oldest can fill that role.

Need to re-sign Snowden ASAP too.

Just re-signed with the Chooks.

Wish we had have known this earlier because I seriously would have offered him Scott, Smith's and Gidley's money. He would have been a perfect replacement.

We're dreaming if we think it'd ever happen in a million years though anyway haha.

I was just thinking that. If we do have all these players leave at the end of the year, doing well this season becomes even more important now to attract players in the market.

Would be interesting to see a list of off-contract forwards.

It would be a shame to lose Scott, his our best forward and leader but in the event we did the guy I would be chasing is Adam Docker. There is not much in the market for next year so I would prefer youth to signing one of the veterans on decline such as Myles or Thaiday and docker would strengthen our defence which is beaus greatest asset.

Docker is all hype but not much substance at this stage IMO. Seems a bit of a plodder from what I've seen. Don't know if he's the type of player you want to replace someone like Scott but then again I haven't watched him overly closely.

I just hope we sign anyone though so Houston or Newton don't get a starting spot lol.

I don't think someone like Tom Burgess would be impossible to get out of Sydney (although I say he'll go to Manly) with enough money. Bedsy and his family have a very, very close relationship with the Burgess bros.

Tom would be a good pick up especially to beef up our bench. I don't think one player can replace Scott because there is not another player similar to him on the market. If we could pick up one to two quality player thou that would go a long way to strengthening our side, if we were to get Tom burgess and Adam docker or someone like Sika Manu. Hopefully Scott stays thou.

Yeah, I agree there's not much off contract this year and certainly nobody that could replace Scott.

Are there any good forwards running around in the UK at the moment? You'd think between Midley, Besdy and Sandercock they'd be able to get us someone.

Of that list Sika Manu, Alex Glenn and Lewis Brown stand out to me. Not as good as Beau but they all offer quality and experience to a young pack

We are dreaming if we ever thing Tom Burgess will leave Sydney

Agree that Docker is full of plod

I would go hard for young Ofahengaue. I know he's unproven but he will be the goods. He'll get far more game time here than under Wayne as well.

Scott is more a defensive player than an attacking player. If we had halves who needed protection then I'd be worried but our halves hold their own more often then not. Let's throw a bit of cash at a really attacking second rower. I'm sure someone worth throwing money at will turn up before the year is out.

If we really do have 1.4m or whatever freed up, Hayne might fail in the NFL. Parra can't have him back, maybe we should throw some money at Hayne? We will probably lose Gagai next year as well.

1. Hayne
2. Uate
3. Mata'utia
4. Leilua
5. McManus

Not bad eh?

Above all else, if Scott goes the club can't panic and throw a heap of money at a bunch of plodders. We already have enough with Houston and Fa'alogo and more of them aren't going to help replace Scott. If we can't get anyone decent off contract we should use the money to front load some contracts and hold onto a bit in case someone suddenly becomes available IMO.

If Scott goes, we're going to have a lot of money on our hands if we're losing:

Scott
Smith
Gidley (hopefully)
Newton (hopefully)
Fa'alogo
and probably Gagai

I don't imagine we've used all of Boyd's money yet either.

We need to re-sign Snowden ASAP, at least one of Gagai/Mamo and some of the young blokes coming through particularly the likes of Luke Yates, etc.

With the rest of the money I hope we plan wisely and put it all towards two astute forward buys rather than a bunch of plodders. If we can't get the buys we want/need (which is likely given we struggle to sign anyone in demand) we should hold onto it until an opportunity comes up given the rate of players trying to get releases from their clubs these days.

We are better off developing players as the talent pool is not what it was 2 or 3 years ago. There are not even enough first grade quality halves in this comp at the moment.
