Johnathan Thurston.

He is a much better player than Prince, and has existing combinations with some of the Cowboy's players that will be in the side (particularly Bowen and Sing).

Yes, Prince "did the job" last year, and "won't let anyone down" this year. But in Origin, you need to do more than just 'do the job'.

Prince has also been making excuses for his poor form. Twice he has come out to the media and cited that Thurston's good form is because he is playing behind a good forward pack.

IF Prince had a big pack i wonder how he would go with the cowboys.

I would go for Prince as i think he suits Lockyers game better. Like it or not it all comes down to how he will interact with Lockyer.

hmm... if Prince were playing behind the Cowboy's pack he'd have a better chance. Quite ironic isn't it? ;-)

As much as I want to see Prince get the nod and improve his game I think Thurston should get the gig.

We should not have lost against the Dragons and the Eagles after leading them, some of the responsibilty for that has to fall back on our main organiser in Prince.

Unfortuneately I think Prince falls just short of being a great halfback at the moment.

Well said, I now await Jordan's reply to that (regarding the combination)

This is interesting. We have such an uproar from fans when a rep side is picked on past performances and reputation, yet here we have a majority who are saying prince should get saying it's because of last year.

no halfback/58 has shined behind a weak pack.
Look at all the GF winners since 1990 and look at their pack

I would pick Prince in the 7 and Thurston from the bench. He is a versatile impact style player that could do wonders off the bench against tiring forwards

Thurston over Bowen on the bench? You have to be kidding, Bowen will be the reserve back on the bench.

Agreed. They would have gone with J Smith from the bench, but since he has ruled himself out Bowen will be in that spot for sure.
