Yep looks like the $4M ($800K per season over 5 years) offer from Souths really bumped up the $840K ($280K per season over 3 years) offer from the Roosters.

I have no problem with Anasta leaving. All Bulldog supporters basically knew he wouldn't be there once Willie re-signed which meant that all we could offer was the original $275K instead of the upgraded one. We were told that the $275K offer was insulting.

He then turns around and rather than sign a $4M ($800K 5 year deal) with the Rabbitohs, he signs an $840K ($280K 3 year deal) with the Roosters.

It's just far too suspect for me.

Expect to see him on channel 9 a lot more now.

I agree, 800k a year seems very very high, even for Souths.

But you also have to agree that after calling an offer of 275k insulting ect, and leaving because the money wasn't good enough, Anasta signing for 280k would require a much higher level of stupidity and ignorance to believe.

No-one has ever said it was $280k. Where that figure came from i'll never now. I think it was a figure of DJ1's fervent imagination. Anasta hasn't spoken about it, the Roosters haven't, so I'd guess no-one here would know. It was interesting that George said they'd offered him $200k more which would be nearly $500k. If Easts signed Anasta for $300k i'd say that'd be about right.

In the end I really dont give a rats arse about any of this. Melon you hate George Piggins. Good hate him all you want. The amazing thing that nobody seems to have twigged to is that perhaps George knew all along he was not going to get Anasta and they just threw their hat in the ring for publicity.
