It is a definite worry. On preseason form we are years away from the elite level of second worse team in the comp.

St George looked much stronger and fitter.

Agree they did, but I’ll wait to see how we are going after the first 3 games, before I get too worried about a terrible trial game.
Last season, the season was over for us, after the first 5 games and we flogged Manly in the trials.
Obviously the club can’t be putting that rubbish up as there standard, hopefully it was a wake up for what’s ahead.
I certainly don’t expect us to win the comp, but with the players we have, barring a catastrophic run of injuries, we should be competing to mid comp positions by the end of the year, getting ready for 25.
Anyway, not much we can do, but wait and see.

I think there's two elements to this conversation that we're all touching on;
first is our physical prowess which is mainly stength, speed and assertion and secondly the standard of footy that was dished up.
I agree Tm that those two games were trials and you can forgive players for lack of cohesion but I don't accept a poor level of physicality especially up the middle.
Middle D is not complicated. It's all about sustained physicality and it's not rocket science.
We've had the same preseason as others so falling behind in this area is not on.
Benji can ill afford getting off to a bad start like last season simply because we are underdone.

Agree, just not prepared to say the sky has fallen in after a shitty trial, at this stage.

Geez no way am I giving up on the lads after 2 trials with chopping and changing.
There's a saying that my dad used to say often "The only thing worth worrying about is the things that you can change".
If you think about it, physicality is something you can change.
It is why gym sessions are a big thing in most contact sports because to a degree you can control the outcome.

I didn’t see fitness as an issue. Saints intensity was way higher than ours, not great but it’s a trial so no huge worry. Flanagan is noted as an intense coach, it’s what the sharks were known for under him. They played like the trial was round 1. I also believe the fact that we don’t play for another 3 weeks played into our performance.

Last 3 years we’ve beaten Manly, East’s and Canberra in the final trial. Those year they all make the finals, we come 13th, last, last.

Just watched the BTR podcast with Josh Fell eddy (that’s how he pronounces it).
Sounds like another good young bloke.

I'm hoping we see some Benji Magic with the team putting in decent performances .

I would love a season where I didn't think it was all over for the Tigers after 5 games. (I'm being generous)

I know Anasta is a player manager, does he have Brooks and Latrell on his books?
They were the only two he seemed to mention.
A lot of the pathetic grubs in rugby league media especially those that work for news limited are relentlessly blowing smoke up
Brooks’s arse as they have an agenda to constantly ridicule & attack us.

Worse, he scored a try, they’ll be on his bandwagon now for another 5 f**king years.

The irony of Anasta talking about Brooks playing much better with an experienced half beside him despite us hiring him to play that role 10 years ago.

He was one of our worst players in our history, and that's saying something, and he has played the boot into us ever since.

The worst two sidekick commentators are Anasta and Ennis and we got both on the one day:(

Anasta and the rest of the media are on Brooks's dick for a reason. They are taking a bet each way.

If Brooks goes well, they get to say that they were always big fans of him, they've supported him all along and that all he needed was a change of scenario. The redemption stories get churned out, more boots are laid into our club and everyone is just supposed to forget that the media spent the last 10 years laying the boot into Brooks as well.

If Brooks doesn't go well, then they'll tear strips off him again, saying that he can't function even with a reduced role in a team of superstars. They will have built him up just to tear him down. All the stories about being useless and overpaid from the Tigers days will be recycled yet again.

Either way, there's no downside for them.
