Lots of good comment. However this is so simple. You don't win competitions without top class players. Bye Bye to Gasnier, Boyd, Smith, Costigan. No Scott, Weyman, drop Soward, but hello Green, Neville Nuffy whoever...arrrhahahaha

Exactly....how does that Clown Doust say we haven't got money. You cannot lose these type of experienced players without replacing them with experience. Boy, next year is going to be tough without Youngy and Scott. Not much to look forward to.

The thing that really gets me about the way this team is run and the recruitment etc is that no one in the place seems to be able to identify good players from bad players.

Why would you re-sign a player like Green who very obviously is not fast or skillful enough to be a good first grader?

Why does Prior get picked every week?

Why do we persist with both Stanley's when they are clearly far too injury prone and lacking the leg speed from so many knee operations?

Why do we keep players that a clearly past their use by date? (Hornby/Cooper/Fien)

If you want to win you need to identify the ingredients that are missing and go about finding them. Its almost as if the club is happy to just field a team and if you get your foot in the door slightly then bask in the knowledge that you'll always have a place at the Dragons.

FFS...make some tough calls. Cut the Stanley's and f**k Green off...Piss off the old bastards as much as I love em...buy some YOUNG/fast/athletic players and build a team from scratch.

Next year the side should look like this

1. Cummins (fast and young)
2. Morris (fast and young)
3. Vidot (big fast and young)
4. Beale (very very fast, young and skillful)
5. Nightingale (machine)
6. Buy someone that hasn't had 1000 knee operations
7. Soward (great kicking game)
8. Hunt
9. King (Creative)
10.Weyman
11.Creagh (needs to harden the f**k up)
12.Frizzell (Young and skillful)
13.De Belin (will improve)

14.Rein
15.Marketo
16.Merrin
17.??? someone preferably not shit like Prior/Miller/Matthews/Au Mau and co.

totally agree with you there
the coach and coaching staff have no idea.
there killing the team and the players.
nighingale is getting killed at fullback its wrecking him
rein is a fulltime hooker he should play a full game
we got potential and good players in the lower grades never used

BUT THE THING THAT BOILS ME. IS WHY IS MATT PRIOR STILL
DOIN IN THE TEAM. HE SHOULDNT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY NRL FOR ANY
CLUB. HE HAS NO IDEA. HE CANT RUN, HE CANT OFFLOAD, ALWAYS
GETTING PENALISED FOR SLOWING THE PLAY THE BALL.
ALWAYS CAUGHT OUT IN DEFENCE LIKE LAST NIGHT. CANT CATCH
A BALL. LIKE PLEASEEEEE

Can't agree with this.

There are very few rosters in the comp with as much experience as ours. It's not like Green was thrown into the deep end on his own. The fact is kids from other clubs have excelled playing with much less experienced team-mates.

The big issue here, is that Green had a few games at the start of the season. He would have identified issues and shortfalls with his game surely (because there were plenty).
He had a lot of time to build on things when he got put back to reggies, also a lot of time to spend with our outside backs at training, the likes of Cooper and co. to help him along. Then he gets a chance....surrounded by quality, experienced players, he has an absolute Mick Crocker. He showed no signs of progression from the start of the year, and has ultimately cost us a crack at the semi's, simple as that.

Not good enough.

Gypsy there is a lot of truth in what you say here however, I have a slightly differnt view of events. It's my view that the players play to their best ability, to a coaches game plan and to individual intructions from the coach. It is also my view that it is the coach's responsibilty to identify the strengths and weaknesses of palyers in his roster and with this information provide an individual coaching plan for that player. Over a period of time the coach should encourage the player to use his skills to the maximum and work on eliminating those faults that have been identified. The progess of this development needs to be formally assessed to evaluate the players suitability for selection in the NRL team.

Green was selected in the NRL team last year and again early this year prior to being selected again for last nights game. If there was no improvement in Green, why did Price select him for last night's game. However, if the problem is more to do with the coach's game plan and/or his instructions to Green for this game, then surely the coach must take responsibity for the situation.

Thanks for everybody's posts. I enjoyed reading your thoughts and feelings.

Personal note. I've got a condition called auditory hallucination. I hear voices. Type hearing voices network into google and there's plenty of information.

What works for me and eases my condition and helps my attention span is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is,

Writing situations, ... then writing thoughts, feelings, moods, ... then the strength of the thoughts, feelings, moods, ... and then an action plan with respect to support systems be it group or individual such as family, friends, services, and what worked in the past, what works now and what might work in the future, ... and then rating the effort and result regarding the action plan.

Done over a period of time results can be seen for consistency and volatility.

It's the same as, I am not a homosexual (which I am not, never was and never will be, and vote accordingly. Though I don't mind looking at beautiful photos and movies of female homosexuals. That's something me and beautiful female homosexuals have in common... we both like females) so what do I do to prove it.

It's a system, a method, a belief.

We all want to be winners in the winning dressing room. What we do, how we do it, and the time it takes is a matter of interest.

Thanks for reading.

I like the look of this team a lot (but I still have faith in Kyle, we must stick by and support this kid).

As much as I respect Hornby, Cooper, and Fien, it's time to move on. I don't think they will as the rumours are their contracts are heavily back ended. So be it.

off topic: Welcome to the Forums Theo, you bring a fresh perspective on things. Keep up the good work mate.

on topic: Season's over.

gower better than half those forwards

Yep I don't get prices bizarre recruitment and team selections, surely gower would have got a start on the bench ahead of vea and ah mau this season...
Surely Goodwin would have got a chance by now with all our fullback problems..or a chance at centre to fill in instead of the usual back rower.... Especially with such poor attack ???

I agree BSE. I got that sense early on but I am still hoping we can go on a run as unlikely as that is.

Amazing how no team is grabbing that last position. Cronulla's win pretty much makes them safe now. It's just Number 8. We have a decent run home. But there is nothing about this team that makes you think they will go on a winning streak. I remember, as a kid, the Dragons used to regularly string games together to qualify against the odds. Can't see any sign of it this year. It's disheartening.

There's no x-factor this year. Our only attacking weapon is BMoz on the wing. To get on a winning run someone in a play-making role needs to hit a purple patch of form. We just don't have that player in our ranks this year.
