Giving them a right royal tasting here.

You wanna make slow pitches? then deal with this shit.
Making a slow deck is fine... You just have to have the attack to compliment it...

As decent as Ali was in the first test... He ain't world class... So you don't exactly provide a deck that's going to make him the key bowler in your line up...

The Empire Strikes back.

Nice work from Buck and Smudger, pitch seems to be a road though.

Be interesting to see how we bowl on this.

Good morning to Leeds Rhino.

Wasn't it very sporting of Australia to let England win a test and get a taste of victory for once. Now onto the real stuff. 4-1 coming up.

Even Punter isn't impressed with the pitch, gotta agree that while it's great to see the poms get smashed it's not much of a contest in these conditions.

Will be interesting to see if England make this many runs.

Yeah but what can they do. If they produce a pitch that helps Anderson and Broad it could bite them in the arse. Haze, Starc and Midge would have a field day

Very unlike Lords decks of the past for sure, but the poms seem to think these sorts of decks will benefit them, but hasn't worked out as planned (Cook losing the toss didn't help :))

Having said that, Warner and Smith were dropped early on, and they didn't bowl well enough in the first hour when the ball seemed to nip around, could easily have been a 5/280 sort of day

What a ridiculous first day wicket...

Smith is a great player on flat decks - shit even Rogers looked the goods...

Quite different to the NZ deck, but Australia well in control from here

Provided there is no stupid collapse, Id image we will declare when we hit 600, most likely an hour after tea on day 2 or thereabouts

I'm gonna drive down to Lords tonight and turn all the taps on and flood the place :D

Ingerlund to hang on for the draw, cmon the rain

why on god's green earth would they prepare a pitch like this knowing full and well losing the toss is a real probability defies belief, even if this ends up being a draw the confidence our batsmen will take from this game will be immense

They should of prepared a surface like the NZ test.

That had a bit of encouragement for everyone.

Score board pressure will see the poms crumble. Aus will declare 3/620 with an hour to bowl and England will be 5/40 by the end of day 2.

Now lets hope these two make big double tons, and I hope Mitch Marsh comes in and smacks a quick ton.

ps: Thank gosh Twatson isn't there...these conditions are tailor made for the no pressure 'save myself for 4 years' innings from him!

I think you'll find Smith is a great player, period.

It's amusing how much Australia going well burns you.

Looks like they're playing in Sri Lanka. Edges not carrying off the new ball on day one ffs.

That's the decks they've been using against Australia for the past couple of series.
