Another NRL club in Queensland would kill of aFL for good in Queensland
The problem is where do you put it?
Ipswich is too small.
Radcliffe is way too small.
and additionally the gold coast is only 45 min away.
the only people who want another Brisbane team are those who Dont live here, they just want to dilute the fanbase as whats happened in Sydney
I'd rather it go to PNG their passion is unreal

edit: yeah afl is already on its knees IMO.

Regardless of where they're based, Ipswich, Redcliffe, Redlands or Logan, they need to play out of Suncorp and go by a name like Brisbane, South QLD or Moreton Bay.

Personally a name like South Queensland Kings or Brisbane Royals (playing on the queen part of Queensland) with a griffin logo

- North Brisbane Dolphins (Redcliffe based)

Yeah, I have wondered how you split Brisbane... I haven't lived there, but people up there tell me you don't have the sort of east-west, north-south divide that you do in Sydney

Brisbane Royals is cool. Maybe dark green as their main colour

It's all about the river, your either Northside or Southside. Red Hill is only 5 km from the CBD on the Northside and those pricks can have the Broncos. Southside rules!!!

Dark green would only clash with Souths which isn't a problem when you have Parra & Titans running around in the same colours.
Queensland colours are maroon (pretty obvious), Brisbane city colours are blue and yellow but that's already used. Dark green and white butcher stripes like Celtics would look cool but that's encroaching on Brothers colours/style

Is that right? Well that would make it pretty easy to just make them the South Brisbane Bombers. Or would you call them something else?
Guessing you'd still play out of syncope either way.

I think thats just being pretty simplistic and not that helpful, especially if you don't know Brisbane. I don't really think geography makes a difference in this case... broncos have grown over 30 years in the NRL/ARL, so the bronco supporters and haters in Brisbane are pretty evenly dispersed I think... Broncos fan base spreads all over... Suncorp being in the CBD helps this. Not sure about the answer but i think a second team has to offer something different than geography. I agree NRL needs to be played at Suncorp every week, but how that happens I don't really know... to bring in an existing club doesn't help... I'm generalising here, but Redcliffe is hated by everyone in Brisbane except Redcliffe supporters. Similarly, Brothers sounds good in theory but most non-Brothers supporters from the old BRL hated them. I think maybe a reincarnation of Valleys somehow could work. Also, sure there is anti-Bronco feeling in Brisbane, but those fans generally already support another NRL club. Are the Brisbane based eels or dragons supporters suddenly going to give up on the club they've supported forever just because its not Broncos. I want to see another Brisbane based team as well, but whats the best way??

Why not just add 2 Brisbane teams

But I think they should be promoted teams rather than a new created entity like the Bombers. Unless Ipswich the bombers form a joint arrangement

Maybe the solution could be going down the soccer route of ambiguous names and calling them Brisbane City?

That said, I definitely wouldn't be adding 2 teams... some attention needs to be given to Perth and NZ.

Brisbane needs 3 teams but not to the detriment of NZ/WA. NRL need to seriously be looking at the longevity of Sydney clubs and make some hard arsed calls, none of this platinum league shit.

Question is what sydney clubs will they look at? The only one in financial trouble now is Wests really - the rest are doing pretty well now.

I don't know what criteria they need to use, that's for someone at HQ on $200k to decide but we can't have a 20 team comp with our currently playing stocks and corporate sponsorship only goes so far yet we're already taking of another 4 teams, potentially another 2 in Brisbane alone

Lol brisbane doesn't need 3 teams. They can do with a second yes but a 3rd is pure lunacy.

What about move the Broncos to Toowoomba?

Toowoomba is bigger and nicer than Geelong which has a team in the sloppy code.

you just dangle a big enough carrot that every Sydney club is interested. Money, salary cap concessions, women. All of it.

If the NRL had NFL money, maybe, but apart from Wests all the other Sydney clubs are financially secure, and even with Wests the magpies side aren't doing too bad now.
