I think he's a superstar in the making, just not a true first receiver.

But his strength & weaknesses are
relevant now, we have a good squad, a squad that could go all the way with the right attack.

So we at least need the right guy next to him & that ain't May.
So who do you propose champion?

We made the 2nd week of the finals for the second year straight. We have the youngest average age in the NRL. We also finished higher than Cronulla, Manly, Bulldogs etc, all perennial finalists. Isn't this what we want the club to be? A regular finalist? You cannot win the premiership if you don't finish in the top 8, which we have 3 out of the past 4 years.
I don't particularly like Griffin's coaching, but realistically would we be in this position without him? Who is there available who could do better? Sure we need better attacking patterns, so we need somebody to complement him. But who is available?
It is all well and good to put s..t on Griffin, but we should also give him credit for what he has done with the team.
Don't forget we were without Waqa Blake and Moylan tonight. I think Blake would have stopped the Oates try, and Moylan may have created a chance or two more. Also after last week it was inevitable that any 50-50 or controversial call would go against Penrith, eg Oates and Thaiday, 6 mores, knock-ons etc.
Lastly I respect that the Penrith club does not come out and deride, criticise or pressure the referees. We have the biggest Junior League and need to ensure that we develop not only players but referees as well. Rubbish like Barrett and Flanagan last week is no way to do this.

Thanks to everybody for the year! It is time for many of you to take a Bex and lie down for a while. Remember the off season isn't very long!

Yeah, but you can't dine out on that forever. He didn't deliver this year. He broke curfew when he was captain. He didn't earn his pay this year.

No you can't. Next year would be make or break for him at 5/8. Have both Moylan & May train there in the off season.

One bad year doesn't mean you cut & run from someone. He never should've been captain, that much is clear, give him a chance without that burden.

A couple of points from the game:

-RCG was a beast and he must be a chance of a NSW jersey if he keeps playing like that. This was at Suncorp against a fired up Broncos side and he was just awesome.

-How does Edwards manage 175m on one leg. This kid is some player.

-You can't write May off as a 5/8th after a handful of games in his debut year in first grade. It takes time to learn the craft of 5/8th. Poor bloke is being written off after barely getting his jumper dirty. All I know is he has ticker, evasiveness at the line and defends well. Lets see what he can do in 2018.

-Ditto Cleary. He is also learning his trade and will be a great player with more experience. He has heart, calmness and is a tough physical specimen. Add a touch of cunning and he will be a rep player.

-In the end to lose by a single try at Suncorp is a good effort when your team is the youngest in the NRL. We dominated the Broncos at times and they deserve credit for their defence. But we lacked guile. Especially without Moylan we didn't have enough players who can read the game and scheme. The Broncos were rushing off their line, the backline needed adjusting, a grubber kick behind would have been perfect and not executed by Mansour. If JT was playing for us we would have given the Broncos a bit of a hiding.

-This team has bags of character. They fight and tackle until the end. They are fit, feisty and make you work for a win. If they get the right direction from the halves, they will be a force. We are building the foundations of a good side and just need experience. All the sides left in the semi's are teams with at least one experienced rep level half. Milford and Hunt. Morgan. Cronk and Munster. Pearce. We tried to buy Carney. We tried to buy JT. No deal. This season has shown why those players get huge bucks. They make the difference between a good team and a great team. We are a good team.

- All this talk about set plays overlooks the fact that it is still up to the players to execute and deliver. I am not saying we have an extensive set play book, but we assume that Hook has no playbook and blame him. Besides which, if it was all about set plays then the highest played person in the game would be an attacking coach. Somehow its the halfback that seems to get the big pay packet though. I wonder why?

- I think Hook should have left Katoa out there. I think the commentators mentioned they thought he was going really well when he come on and who am I to argue? Hook pulled the wrong lever with that one.

- We really missed Blakes pace. He is our only genuine speedster and when he is fully fit, he could have handled the Bronco's attack a lot better and would have caused a few issue with his speed. Mind you, you need the halves to give you the ball and we haven't got that bit worked out yet.

And a round of applause for the NYC team whom yet again are one game from the finals. They must have a lot of new players because half of the previous champion team is playing NSW Cup or first grade. This is how it should have been for the last 20 years. A team always in the eight and producing yet another first grader. Thanks Gus.

We lost because we are clueless inside the opposition 20. This isn't a new development. It precedes Griffin, and includes the whole time Moylan has been in first grade. So the former isn't entirely to blame, and the latter isn't the cure.

This season was much like last, with a poor start, a strong finish, and disappointing fail in the second week of finals. The difference going into next season for me is expectation. The style of football we were playing at the backend of '16 was exciting and gave me hope for what the club might become. This year we've been crap all year. Griffin got the team committed to playing and competing for 80 minutes, but the brand of football is shit, with flaws in every area.

Wallace is done, and I can't believe that Griffin watched the team with Katoa or Rein, and decided to play Wal instead. Even with Katoa on the bench, he was used as a backrower instead of dummy half.

I don't care whether Moylan has mental health/ gambling/ drug/ attitude/ problems, whatever, he lost my complete respect. Edwards did everything possible to be there for the finals, including playing on one leg...our captain? Most people here seem to think he's god, but he's been shit all year (with the exception of the last 3 minutes against Canberra). No real running or kicking game, and a poor defender. Sure we'd have scored more tries if we'd have had his passing game, but would have conceded more too.

Bad luck for May. He will be a great utility, but a poor 5/8 at NRL level. I've said before Luai is by far the best fit for the team, but would Griffin risk a spine that young....probably not.

The positives were the return of Mansour, who bouced back from a knee reco faster than anyone I can remember. The improvement in RCG. The emergence of Edwards. CHN deserves mention too, but should have been rested some time ago as his form tapered and then declined. This style of football we're playing took it's toll on a lot of players. Wal, CHN, DWZ, Cleary, were all looking worn down.

Cartwright has had too many things going on this season to judge him, but I'm concerned by his lack of pace. He is so slow. I hope that's injury related and not permanent.

Expect we'll soon hear Moylan is leaving, and hope we hear Brennan will replace Griffin.......wishful thinking.

Brisbane kick the field goal with 11 to go. With that much time left. I don't get that when we had the ball in their 20 and it didn't look like we'd get a try, why we didn't consider kicking a field goal just to get it out of the way and change the dynamic on field?

Kicking a field goal would've taken away the comfort Brisbane had of being more than a try in front.

If Moylan is out because of himself fair call but if reports are true and he wanted back and the club stopped him it's on Gus and Griffin.

I do agree with a lot you said as well.

I haven't heard that. He does, however, have a pretty good resume as an assistant coach (including):

- assistant to John Lang when we won in 2003;
- assistant to Ricky Stuart at the Roosters (may have been in 2004 when they lost the GF (or the year afterwards)
- assistant to Paul Green at the Cowboys in 2015 when they won the GF

He also coached the Titans for 186 games (winning percentage 46%, which isn't bad considering the roster he had).

I could be wrong but I don't thinking Cartwright was assistant coach at Penrith in 2003.
