Penrith aren't ruthless enough.Too worried about their image.

They'd rather lose and have everyone's respect and pity than to win and be loathed by the majority of rugby league fans.

It is for this reason why that if we do make the finals next season, we will scrape in just like this year.

The one consolation I can take from being out of the finals is that those two grubby as f**k sides the Sharks and Eels are out as well.

Yeah it's clearly not just people on these boards that have an issue with our tactics. Some serious thought has to go into next season.

Our tactics are terrible, anyone who can't see that has their head buried in the sand, these posters that don't want to admit it look for any excuse for Griffin. Griffin is completely average. So many simple areas did not improve all year, I think our last play of the game was Cleary getting tackled on last, very fitting.

Again? Mate we've been hearing the same shit for the last 2 years. Every time someone tries to have a discussion about football, about our side, it gets shut down or overtaken by the same people saying 'griffin is shit'. I think everyone understands your position, you've made it quite clear, and that's completely fine but I can't see how saying 'griffin is shit' over and over again, in every single discussion, makes this forum any more enjoyable.

f**k me.

The off season circle jerk begins.

The Griffin thing came up because of Girds and he was spot on for mine. The question is how do they fix the problems. Two options for me:

Griffin gets help and John Cartwright isn't a certainty. Can't find any info at all.

Or they move Griffin on for someone else.

Glad we dumped TMM mid-season as well. That worked out well.
It appears there weren't too many options. We certainly could have used him in Brisbane.

With all our pre-season being done with him at 5/8 it makes reaching the last 6 among all the disruptions more meritorious IMHO.

The game was winnable, we just didn't have the werewithal to do it. Girdler is right. It's been happening all year. Griffin isn't going to be sacked, but like someone says maybe he could do with a bit of help, especially if Moylan isn't going to be there.

What was good as this year went on, and Girdler didn't mention, is that we are much more resilient in defence than last year. The problems this side failed to overcome are not insurmountable.

Yes but will that help though. I don't know how much John Cartwright can make a difference.
Gould has reportedly been helping with training runs & tactics the last few months. If you believe the reports. Brandy has come on board to help our halves on last tackle options. 2 good analytical minds there on a part time basis.
Without Moylan the last few weeks our attack has been a little clumsy. With him its a work in progress with rare brilliance.
Cleary keeps getting caught on the 5th and our last tackle options against good quality teams are junk.
I have seen some improvement on building pressure but not enough consistently. Certainly not against the good teams. I know we are a young team but we have a premiership window that is open. It will close soon if we don't get our attacking structure right. If Moylan goes you can put us back years for a premiership or a top 4 finish. Surely the club know that.
Look we did well to reach the 2nd week of the finals without our best player. I thought our year was done 2 weeks ago. But we were never a top 4 team this year despite the pre season hype. Off field issues played there part early on as well as a few selection blunders and possibly a few big heads
A coach that has guided us to back to back finals season in his first 2 seasons deserve some praise.
I am not calling from him to be sacked either but unless things change. (E.G his relationship with Moylan, game tactics) we are wasting a good team that can become a great one.

Just throwing it out there not being negative.

Great post.

I might add in my opinion I think the club should recruit Cooper Cronk (assuming he retires) as a halves coach or just bring him in to work with Cleary one on one. Cronk would be perfect to work on structured plays and building pressure down the oppositions end.Which we sorely lack.
Brandy has been doing good work but its only been part time. I think it would be a wise investment if they could get Cronk in full time around his media gigs.
It would help Cleary immensely to learn off Cronk for a season or 2. Plus a good sweetener for when it comes to re-sign him.
I know its a big if, but think of the problems it would solve with our attack if the right people are willing to listen and learn off a player at the top of his game right now.

You muppets trying to talk footy is good comedy. You and yours contribute absolutely nothing of any originality or merit. Nothing. Big f**k all. You parrot the dopey media lines doing the rounds at the time and spew mindless positivity like a self-help seminar. We benefit nothing by your presence. I mean Kev kind of attempted a point, about how Cleary is better with May, and that shit got shot down as soon as someone bothered to look into it. Your presence here is just worthless, certainly to us, and I don't understand how it also isn't worthless to you. There exists places where all analysis and negative are moderated and all that is allowed is Griffin back slapping, your Neverland, and everyone, including yourself, would be better off if you just slinked off that way.

Griffin shouldn't be sacked this off season, but he also shouldn't be re-signed.

The team has to show improvement in attack next year otherwise it should be curtains for Griffin.
