Increasing his running game and lessening his defensive work load will make him a better player but he still has a shit loopy passing game. He's going to be shit till he fixes that up.

That’s so fixable.

I expect he will unseat Peats for NSW
Never once in his nrl career has he looked like being able to pass the ball from the play the ball with any consistency. Might be an easy fix but it's been a long term problem.

Pears is only warming the spot until Brailey fires.

Nsw only need a hooker who can run. Not one who does every set. He needs to be a threat, that is used half a dozen times a game.

Farah failed because he tried to run every set. Not required and easy to defend.

Like frenzy says, if lichaa can get himself sorted with the passing then maybe him.
Less defence will help.
Although if brailey can increase his run if as he grows into the fitness required then I can’t see him not bypassing both lichaa and peats.

Very rare for a dummy half to have the motor straight away to defend for 60 tackles on the middle and then ball play.

Frenzy.

Yes agree with Brailey being there eventually.

Funny thing is Lichaa didn’t have a problem with service in NYC etc.

Mind you, don’t care if he does come good or not. Just a talking point

Yeah no doubt Des culled all the good parts of his game but I cant blame Des for the bad passing. He will be better this year if Pay lets him play.

Licha can play. No doubt. Jsut a had a shit manager & hyped him up to Valentine Holmes levels of unwarranted hype & pay packet. That is why he is hated.

Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan reveals winger Sione Katoa bolter for NRL debut

285ea5626c9a626649b0b0eab1854da8

YOU probably won’t know much about Cronulla’s most impressive rookie. Not many do. Even the Sharks don’t seem to know too much.

Click on his player profile on the club website and it’s pretty bare.

Not even a profile picture.

But Shane Flanagan likes it that way.

For years he’s taken a protective approach when it comes to the flyer.

It’s this care and nurture which has Sione Katoa firmly in the frame for his first grade debut.

Nominating the NYC graduate as his biggest bolter to push his way into the Sharks’ star studded side, Flanagan has high hopes for this 20-year-old.

“He’s a winger. He’s been really good in the off-season and had a really good year last year,” Flanagan told foxsports.com.au.

“We’ve taken a bit of time with him but in a pretty established squad he’s probably the one that’ll get a chance in the trials.”

While the name Katoa may look familiar, don’t get him confused with Penrith namesake, the 22-year-old hooker.

The 88 kilo flyer was one of six Sharks named in the NYC team of the year having topped the try scorers list last year for the minor premiers.

A New Zealand product, who was previously contracted with Parramatta, Katoa has spent the last two seasons with the Sharks’ 20s where he has made his mark.

Now he’s locked in a three-way battle with Edrick Lee and new recruit Aaron Gray to fill Gerard Beale’s vacant wing position.

And it’s not just Katoa who has emerged as a bolter for their season opener against North Queensland on March 9 with Jesse Ramien in line for more NRL games.

The 20-year-old managed two top grade games last season and with Jack Bird now in Brisbane, the fight for positions is on.

“Sione is in battle with is Aaron Gray and Edrick Lee for that spot,” Flanagan said.

“Jesse Ramien is going really well also although he’s a centre.

“Trials will depend on where he sits. Competition for our centres is something we probably haven’t had in a while.

“We’ve had Ricky Leutele and Jack Bird nailed down those but this year there’s competition for the outside backs.”

Meanwhile, Ricky Leutele will be staying at the club in 2018 despite reports suggesting the opposite.

While his wife Brooklyn had return to Queensland last year to get assistance with their new born twins, she’s returned to Sydney with Leutele ready for the new season.

Interesting read where does that leave Feki, with Holmes on one wing and possibly Katoa on another.

No way Edrick Lee plays first grade
