If he signs elsewhere, it is for dubious reasons.

Sorry I cant go along with that.
He had an injury this year that severely restricted his playing & confidence. Rugby League is a profession that will ensure you play the majority of your career with injuries. For a back, who relies on speed & evasion as their main weapon, an injury, even a niggler can severely hamper your performance. Inglis is an example. Has a shcking year, due to injury, but if he was playing his best all year, Souths would have been in the finals. Pay him for his form this year, you wouldnt give him 10 cents.
If I was Carneys manager, I would be advising & putting any incentive based deal to the bottom, or pretty much straight in the bin, unless it was double, a non incentive deal.
It sounds like a nice outcome for everybody really.
Coach is happy because he was allowed to make an offer. Club can say to fans that they made a big offer. Club can say he chose a different deal, in exactly the same way Newman described & therefore avoid the embarrassment of Carney not coming, even if we offered way more than any other club, without incentives.

At any rate, I still believe he will end up at Canberra. I dont believe Souths have the cap space.

I agree with you reef to a degree. It's also easy for him to make some reasonable, but not outstanding, coin elsewhere without putting in too much effort.

Our base offer IS low. The only way the board would sign off on it was that it was heavily inventive (and behavior) based.

If he comes here, plays semis and reps, he will be on good money though.

Carney will be a rabbit from what I've been told.

Any meetings with the sharks is just time wasting imo.

Magurie is flying in to meet with Todd.

I would also hazard a guess that maguire is flying in because he team got dusted on the weekend & is out & he starts at the Rabbits on the 24th October.
Makes for good reading though. Can just picture JC laying back pool side in Pataya with a couple of local female rugby league fans talking to Mags about his plans for the bunnies.

We need that more than anything.

(and behavior) based.
There is absolutely no reason why Carney has to come to the club & be treated any differently from anybody else. He arrives with a clean slate. Does anybody actually think Myles is on any form of contract other than shytloads of money in it? & why should he be? You want the guy, you pay him what hes worth or you will miss out.
Now we will never know.

If he wants an easy pay cheque, he will go to one Souths or Penrith.
That's probably where his head is at the moment easy pay cheque.

Unfortunately I expected that rotten beesting of a head to get involved. Dripping with fake sincerity, hypnotising him into believing moving west will see him out of the spotlight.

And if Russell's involved - fugg. Carney will have stars in the irises.

Show him the running track Flanno for fugg's sake - it's time to pull out our big guns.

2nd team. Noun.
1. Team the rest of your family follows so you have a soft spot for them
2. Team that you like, but not as much as your first
3. Team you like to lol at.

Love that thread.

As for 2nd team, I don't have one any more. I used to have a soft spot for the Raiders (Fergo fixed that) and Tigers, but I am now getting more bitter and twisted the older I get, so they can all get farged.

Personally I think Reefy has nailed it. I hope not but after all we are the Sharks.
