Sharks rule out safe haven if Carney and Roosters part ways

We'll see. Knowing how they did the Idris & Douglas deal, I would expect the same. Staff in the office next to the CEO did not even know of the Idris signing until it was announced. Nobody even knew who Douglas was when he visited. Cameron Smith was close to signing also a couple of years ago & nobody even knew he was there or about the deal.
IF they want Carney & have the cash, they will get him. & I am lead to believe they very much want him.

Considering Luke had been negotiating with them since December, they very much knew who he was.

I can safely rule out the Titans.

Can't rule out the Cowboys, but i'm reliably told he wants to play in Sydney.

Also, the hunt big time, is a stupid thing to say, our offer has beaten any figure that has gone under his nose.

FFS Flanno, get Todd to stay sober for 5 mins and sign a contract with us.
Then tell him he can be as pissed as he wants within the limits of the law till Jan 2 2012.
Tell him he can have a different mermaid every game we win.
If he wins us the GF he can have the whole mermaid squad for mad
Monday.

Funny thing though, I was the only one on here that hinted that Douglas was going to be a Titan, & that was jsut prior to the news being made official. And there are a few on here that are big on the hints. There are 2 people who know what is going on at the Titans in terms of signings. There are no leaks & the paper talk is exactly what they want in the papers.

Yes, we know you said it days before it happened.

But, 1 thing I can personally guarantee, our chairman spoke with Luke in January over a coffee, and his mind just wasn't up to it anymore.

The fact that he signed when he did, and how it happened caught everyone off guard.

Again, I agree with you about the Titans, and how they operate, but on the Carney matter, I would back my info & the source of it, over everyone here.

Im not saying that at all.

We are front runners, but it's not as easy as some of you think it is.

Please refer to my comments made here and here to see the kind of boxes that need to be ticked before we lodge a contract with out being laughed out of the offices of the NRL.

Sorry, wasn't talking to you.
I'm just getting over all this speculation and paper talk and all the rest of it.
Everyone naming their 17 including Carney when he hasn't signed yet....
Giving me false hope! haha

There are a few on here who think it's as easy as 1 2 3 to get a player over the line.

Negotiations are a long and drawn out process, and Carney's manager still had players off contract from other clubs as well as ours.

Also, with the extreme circumstances that surround Todd, and his remaining time in the NRL, our resources, as well as team Carney, would not be in dialogue with each other all the time.

We would be relaying information back and forth between NRL, management, Carney, and our board.

His side would be relaying information between NRL, client, other NRL teams, and the Sharks.

Patience is the key to this. As it stands, I am confident Todd will be a Shark, however, tomorrow might be a new day, and Newcastle, South, Titans, Cowboys, Bronco's, Parra, Bulldogs ect, might jump in with revised offers, different behaviour codes ect.

As it stands, the way our board has handled this process, should be applauded, we have done everything right by the NRL, Todd Carney, and his management.

Alot of people named John Williams in there team as well, yet no one has mentioned him. To me, he is just as vital to the team as he is a specialist winger, and the best outside back (imo) at the club.

Patience.

You would hardly suggest that John Williams and Todd Carney are in the same tier of influential players to a team? I like Williams... hope he stays.

I wouldn't say that, no, but I would say that both of them are influential figures in the make up of our team.

I mean, would you like a year of Matt Wright and Nathan Stapleton on the wings? Hardly.

John is a true professional, a respected member of the Sharks, and a damn fine defensive winger. He also helped Pom at the beginning of the year with a few defensive issues, and, if we are stuck with Pom again, then its Williams who I see as the man to partner him.

For the record, I would not Put Isaac Degois in the same breath as Paul Gallen, but next year, Degois is more important to the team in terms of service and momentum.

Agree about degois. His leaving was one of the key reasons we slid good side to shite one imo.

Scott Prince won't allow someone better than him in the halves next to him.

Had 2 people say stuff along the lines of "what a joke cronulla want to sign him" today. I pretty much said what has he done wrong apart from break team issued non drinking pacts. Let him drink, he will play better and back him up when the media have a go saying you allow every player to have a drink, why cant he. Do this and he will be good for you guys.

Ivan...

my opinion is those that say they dont want him at thier club are liars. He is a great player and the clubs that say they arent interested are saying so cos they dont have the $

i will be stoked if we get him, if we dont we wont make the semis, guaranteed.
