Ben Green looks very good. I went out to Shark Park to support the Magpies Flegg agaainst the Sharks and i thaught that Green was the stand out. I saw a little bit of Luke Douglass and Mitch Brown in late `2004 and was very impressed with both of them, but last week Ben Green was a constant danger to the Magpie defence and he also looks to be a very good kicker, both in general play and goal kicking. On top of all this he looks to be a natural leader. I know Flegg to 1st grade is a big step, but this bloke looks to be a ready made replacement for Noddy. Can anyone tell me where he is from??? A local junior???

That makes sense - Puna is only 19 I think so yeah thats a fleggin but Puohotaua I've got no idea about in regards to age. He played flegg last year and for some reason I think he was SG Baller last year before playing in flegg. So that would make him a flegg player. I'm not sure but.

Mellars has a option taken up on his contract after his debut. Did they do a back flip?

Also this 40 man squad closes the door on Greenshields.. A few more would be signed but they'd be flegg players you'd think.

Ugh - CJS help me.

We have a fair few utility sort of players. I wonder what the plan is regarding Bird, Hilder and Latu, surely all of them cannot play, did we sign Latu to play Premier League? Should we have maybe given Kingston a go before we signed Latu?

Looks like we have good depth at least, some competition for most positions.

Squad looks good to me. Doubt if they'd exclude Puohotaua. He plays well. Guess he's still Flegg. Glad they've included Sanders. IMO Mellars can go anywhere he likes.

from 2004

Kurt Puohotaua
DOB: 6-5-85
Height: 181cms Weight: 85kgs
Junior Club – Wainuiomata Lions, NZ
Centre/back row.
Games played - 22
Tries - 5

Has been at the Sharks for three years. Ex New Zealand under 17’s player from near Wellington. Played the full game versus the Panthers in semi final due to Yelavich injury. Amongst the toughest in the squad, loves the body contact both with the footy in his hands and in defense.

Puohotaua would be too old for Flegg if he was born in 1985.

Has Vince Mellars been released?

What about Russell Aitken, Dimitri Pelo and Lafi Manua?

Isn't Brackin Henry only 17? I doubt he will be playing Premier League next year.

we're kinda short in the halves...
Brett Kimmorley, Adam Dykes, Brackin Henry and Ben Green... and that's supposedly supposed to cover ALL three grades

This is a great signing... there's no doubt... this bloke ripped up in Flegg!

The question for next year is: Will Raper bite the bullet when the going gets tough?

Will he give the youngsters a go?
Will he debut the promising juniors a go from rd.1?
Will he replace injured players with fill-ins, or logical replacements that affect the game plan as little as possible?
Will he continue to have faith in underperforming hacks?
Will Simmons still be alive?
...

So many questions...

Pretty Sure Lafi with Newton now Roosters
Pelo of the france??
Russ -> Cowboys

And Sharks took up the option to extend Vince's contract for 06.
