Why would the politics surrounding Denis' job even make it onto that video?? FFS!!

Smacks of political propaganda to me.
Wouldn't people who buy it be more interested about seeing highlights from our greatest games?

Suity

They are on there as well. But what happens off the Field is just as important to the survival of this club as what happened on it. The Colonel never Played for us but Each week at the Home game I go to the House that Jack built. . . or is that just Political Propaganda.

DF is not elected to the Board. He was elected 25 years ago but he is an Employee of the club now. The Board is who you elect and if you don't know that then really you don't know how our club works.

In reality Denis just put into place a protection for our club so as it could not be Hijacked by anyone, Ray saw it as a personal assault. Our club was one of the First to bring this rule in and I think you will find it is now in force over most of the football clubs in the country.

Example, you get a group of people who want to sack a player but the club board doesn't want to then they go and find all the like minded people, they join up and vote for you and then you get your way and these other people drop off after a year of membership. Yet they get to ride rough shot over those that have been paying their dues for a long amount of time. If you think that is right then that is your opinion, I personally think that is the worst result our club could ever face.

Sadly Mark, I'm even less convinced now.
I have no doubt, that in time, things will change.

Personally i dont like or hate the bloke, I just think we need a change, especially after more than 25 yrs. Besides, i don't think raising these points should upset anyone? should they? Finding out why our former greats don't respect DF is what i would like to know.

I also want a change at the top but not because our former greats don't want him there, it's like saying that PHC and Crowe shouldn't be there because Piggons and Sattler think they're bad for the club when's it's obvious to everyone that they're not..

Your last sentence should have had a question mark, Mark. ;-)

Seriously, I'd like to take a poll and find out how many people bought the DVD to find out how Denis got to keep his job.
Important?? Maybe.
Care factor on a DVD like this??? Pfffttt.

And that my friends is the ultimate example.
Defend them all you like Mark. You won't convince the majority.

Yeh yeh, I know, the majority need to join up and wait three years and vote blah blah blah..........

but mate you can also argue that Kenny, Sterling and Price all featured very heavilly in the DVD with extensive interviews and highlights.

I've seen the DVD's more than once and didn't find it too politically grovelling.

If DF can reinvent himself like RC & PHC, then it would go along way towards the good of the club. DF innovations include, changing the name from the eels to the rams, and making suggestions that League should merge with Union "for the good of the game".

Now these issues are more worrying eela. Selling you heritage and selling the game, all for the sake of making a buck. Sounds good to me!

 ...

both Price and Sterling had the opportunity to contribute to the club outside their playing days and couldn't commit to the cause, Kenny's just dirty that he didn't get a job when he asked for one.

it's been said million times mate...

I'd be kinda dirty aswell contributing so much to the club and not getting a job pouring beers

Agreed, but my point was that that crap shouldn't have even been there at all.

Well that's your opinion Suity and your entitled to it. But from Memory we are talking about 2 Minutes on 1 3 Hour DVD or which the Series Consists of 4. I personally think it would be remiss to not mention the off field achievements along with our on field ones.

But if we are being serious do you own any of those DVDs? I have to learn all of the On field and off field History of our club. Including what Jack Argent did.

Yes I do.

By the way,

I think that is documented on the History of the Eels DVD. I think Denis explains the situation on that DVD.

If you know the DVD's so well, why do you only "think" these things?

I think because I havent watched them with a Stopwatch in hand to time how long it takes. Hence I wont was It is 2 minutes when it could be 3. I think it is around 2 minutes. It also Documents all the off Feild achivements of this Club from Jack Argent to Denis Fitzgerald and Alan Overton.

We'll have to disagree then.
That's exactly how I see it.

I can tell you..Mark's been hinting on the bloke possably pulling the plug in his career at in maybe 2 years [we'll see what happens] if that is the case and I kinda hope it is, just quietly, what benefit what he have got from pulling the stunt? bare in mind that the DVD's were released last year.

A clean slate perhaps?

I know where you stand on this issue so we'll just see what happens I suppose.
I should have voting rights by then, btw, as would a 100 or so others. ;-)

Very simplistic view MITS. It would be extraordinary if someone went to that much trouble to just get a player sacked. No, the real reason people get together in our 'she will be right mate' lay back country, is when we have really had enough of some ones incompetence, mismanagement, corruption and or all of the above. I am not saying that DF is corrupt, I wouldn’t know or have any inside info to suggest such a thing.

But he has manipulated the board to his own advantage, this is certain.

Also I know that he is a hired gun now, but anyone who has any understanding of the big bad world out there, knows that what seems is not what always is.

The uneducated would also say that we have elected John Howard to be the leader of Australia and by all accounts he is. However ask any educated Banker, or financier and their answer would be the real leaders of our country are on the board of the Reserve Bank of Australia(RBA). They lay the real agenda of this country, unbeknown to the majority, and Johnny just says aye.

My point is same, same.

I may be wrong, but doesn't the leagues club run the NRL team? So to change the board, do you need the vote in the leagues club elections or the footy club elections? Or both?
