You have got to be kidding me.

Heighington is a bog average player who has been on the slide for years. He is a mediocre defender on our own line (cost us plenty of tries this year) and he lacks impact in attack. There is no other second rower in the game who is as easily dominated.

Gibbs was the best defender in our side and his performances in his last 2-3 years with us were consistently excellent.

If Heighington is the "glue" in this side then that might be one of the f**king reasons we just finished 10th.

Heighington was told he would not be offered a new deal past 2013, there is nothing wrong with that at all. This club has needed a shake up for years as it is full of too many average, under performers. Stop confusing effort with quality.

I take your point re heighnington but I hope your reference to underperformers isn't also reference to beau Ryan. His play this year warranted a contract extension. Not a rep player so wouldn't have asked for top dollar. In the salary cap era players with beau's level of talent are a prerequisite.

Ryan has had a good season but that is it, one good season. He is an average player who played above his level this year. I like him and applaud his effort this season but it is not as if we are losing a match winner here.

That is the problem with this club. There are so many players who have a few good games and then are lauded as some kind of superstar.

This time last year most would have been happy to see the back of Ryan when it was rumoured he was being shopped around to Penrith.

I like Ryan, but really believe his form this year looked so much better than it really was because most around him played crap.....I agree he is not a match winner, just an honest footballer willing to put his body on the line......that said I am sad to lose him, but sh*t happens, good luck to him.

it's getting close now; i can almost taste it...

I wish they would just make a decision one way or the other, this is like awaiting the announcement of the NRL side every Tuesday. But at least we knew that would come through by midnight, but this could go on forever.
If it frustrating me, imagine how the remaining players (do we still have any???) must feel....

Agreed. Especially about the part that Ryan looked better because everybody else played like shit.

Ryan is a good, solid player but did not make one line break all year.

Very accurate summation imo

We didn't make the top eight, and some dramatic and rational decisions have to be made,'' Elias said yesterday. ''Now the coach thinks it could be the players, but a lot of people think the buck stops with the coach. ''The thing about being there for 10 years is you can't say you've come and inherited this disease or this rot in the place, because you've created that culture. ''You've decided to sign those players, you've selected your staff, your talent scouts, your junior structure.

Elias has it down.

Bye bye Sheens.

Certainly seems to be headed that way. And while the time for change seems to be here, the next step is every bit as important.

The next coach can't be a step backwards to the Lamb era. We still have quality players on the roster right now, and the window is closing but not done yet. A halfback and some defensive starch a-la 2010/2011 is what's needed. The question is who?

He needs to go

And he needs to take he's underqualified overpaid horde of dribblers with him like Hider, Skando, Georgialis and Ronald.

The players need someone who will tell them a few home truths, especially Benji because there is more than enough talent in the side to have won the comp.

It should be an honour and privilege to play in any Nrl team, instead we have players that have been given any easy passage to the top grade, they now believe they dont have to account for there own performances, throw in a 1/2 wit coach and no wonder we are in the s@#t.

Jesus Christ the great Royce is on 2GB

Pfizer should bottle his voice and sell it as a xanax alternative

Imagine what 20yo footballers must think when this f**king dinosaur speaks

Bet they can't wait to turn up and hear stories of the sizzler's brothers bar bills in Honalulu

FMD the fact that sheens has faith in this clown and previously john morris should be enough to see sheens on centrelink ad infinitum

Please honour your word.
Just don't like the coaching coordinator role.

If he said that he should be out the door with nothing. There should be absolutely no argument from him - anything less and he is a piece of shit.

He should be given no role in the club either - the new coach gets a 2 or even 3 year contract based upon professionalism (any Lamb like actions and he gets sacked with no recourse) but he should be allowed to do his job within reason.

Best way to get a measure on the effect of the departure of these blokes is to wait and see who replaces them. If we have to put up with more shaky hands from Tuquiri or Utai getting out lept then im sure there might be a bit more affection for Ryan.

Maybe this is what theyre thinking of with Sheens saying he'll walk away... Alas, it was prior to his 2011 extension but I'd sure like to pin him on it.

Sheens staying with Tigers
Updated Fri Mar 26, 2010 11:52pm AEDT
Tim Sheens will remain at the helm of Wests Tigers until the end of 2011 after extending his contract with the NRL club for a further 12 months.
Sheens, who has coached for 595 first grade matches and won four premierships since debuting with Penrith in 1984, says he will quit if success does not come in the next two seasons.
"I asked for a year, not any longer than that, to work with this group," he said after Friday night's 23-12 win over Parramatta at Sydney Football Stadium.
"If I can't get it to happen then I won't be here and I'd stand down myself on that basis."
Sheens, 59, says the move will remove speculation about the job, which had been linked to Cronulla coach Ricky Stuart.
"We're not thinking this year about who's going to be coaching and the speculation, which this season doesn't need," he said.
Sheens says the deal had been done on Friday afternoon over coffee with Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys.
Humphreys agreed Sheens' request for only a 12-month extension meant he has squarely put the pressure on himself to succeed.
"I read a bit into that," Humphreys said.
"Tim understands better than anyone that this is a results-orientated business.
"We know we need to take that next step and I think he is challenging himself somewhat in that."
Tigers captain Robbie Farah also welcomed the signing, which comes on top of those of Benji Marshall, Keith Galloway and Robert Lui this year.
"Tim's a coach that all of us players respect and he's a reason why a lot of us have re-signed," Farah said.
"It gives the club great stability."

Look at the players we have coming through, the logical replacement suggests Nofoaluma will take his place.

Agree. What amazes me is, if he prepared to give them that undertaking, why not
put it in his contract. If the undertaking was genuine he would have no problem
putting it in writing that he leaves with nothing if they miss the eight.

If the board sacks Sheens now, the most likely explanation is that Robbie has assumed
Benji's role as King maker.

Robbie must be behind the hiring and firing, and picking the coach (or he leaves for
parra). If he is picking the personal and the coach he will be picking the team as well.
It is the same fricken model we have now.
