Sabbott 117 runs and 4 wickets, I think if we pick an all rounder it will be Green although Abbott is a much better bowler for mine.

I think its more important for our no 6 to be a batting all rounder as we have a pretty decent bowling attack assuming Haze will be fit.

Disgraceful

We are gonna be 5-6 weeks into the footy season

Announcement eve of the first test , so get little fan fare.

State squad depth could be severely tested by Australia's international tours while there may be a considerable overlap with IPL

Australia's domestic season will have its latest ever finish with the Sheffield Shield final slated for the middle of April and the One-Day Cup final to be played at the end of the month.

The Sheffield Shield will be shortened by one round to nine but retains the traditional final which will be staged from April 15-19 with the top-ranked team hosting the match. Last season the last round of matches and the final were cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Australian domestic calendar has never previously stretched beyond the early days of April, but the lengthening of the season allows for a full One-Day Cup - with the final on April 30 - and the majority of the Shield to be played amid the Covid-19 impacted fixture list.

Should be the best Shield year for a while!

https://www.cricket.com.au/news/aus...action-covid19-test-tour-postponed/2021-02-03

Australia's Test players will return to their state sides for the resumption of the domestic cricket season after the KFC BBL with Cricket Australia confirming no changes would be made to the T20 squad to tour New Zealand.

A strengthened second half of the Marsh Sheffield Shield, with the Marsh One-Day Cup yet to begin, is the silver-lining for Australian cricket after the Test tour of South Africa was postponed.

Will they be X Factor's? Should help a few sides get the Bash Boost

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...e-australian-state-border-uncertainty-1250886

Two rounds have been cut from the Sheffield Shield and the Marsh Cup will be a five-game tournament in the restructured Australian domestic calendar, but the completion of all the fixtures hang in the balance because of the uncertainty regarding state border controls around the country. Western Australia remains a major concern for Cricket Australia's schedule, with the state government maintaining strict Covid-19 border rules for travellers coming in.

CA and the state cricket associations ticked off on the new revamped domestic schedule late last week with each state to play eight Shield matches in total, including those already played, and five 50-over Marsh Cup matches with the top two teams in each competition to play off in the finals in April. The Marsh Cup final will be played on April 11 and the Shield final on April 15-19.

The Australian Cricketers' Association agreed to a reduction of games this season on the understanding that it would return to ten rounds and a final next season.

The first half of the Shield season took place in October and November in a hub in Adelaide but the rest of the fixtures will now be played in all six states, with teams to fly commercially alongside the general public and arrange their own accommodation as has been the case in previous seasons. The bio-security rules are set to be far less stringent than they were during the BBL.

The Big show wants to return to the Big Show

Glenn Maxwell is hopeful a diet of white-ball cricket on the subcontinent will help him force his way back into Australia's Test side for their four scheduled tours of Asia next year.

Despite recent media reports that Maxwell's days playing red-ball cricket for Victoria could be numbered, the 32-year-old still has a burning desire to return to the Test side and insists he's far from done in the longest form of the game.

In high demand for limited-overs cricket all over the world, Maxwell has played just eight first-class games in the past three years and while he hopes to turn out for the Vics in the Marsh Sheffield Shield next month following Australia's Qantas Tour of New Zealand, his red-ball opportunities are likely to again be limited over the next 12 months.

But as he watched day three of India's Test match against England in Chennai, which has been dominated by spinners on a turning pitch, Maxwell says his vast experience in Asian conditions could clear the path back into the Test side.

"I'm certainly keen to still play red-ball cricket and push my case forward to still play Test cricket," he said.

"I'm still very much in the prime of my career. I'm only 32 and there's still a fair bit in me.

"I'm not done and dusted there.
