Do you think it is unusual that Corby claimed there was no history of drugs in her family while her half brother is in gaol for 62 offences including bulgulary, stealing and drug possession, especially since she vistited him in gaol.

The bali 9 were part of an ongoing investigation here in Australia, thats why we know all the details straight away.
No, she even admitted to recreational drug use herself.
Who hasn't?
What her brother did doesn't mean anything.
My brother has done bad stuff too and I don't consider
myself a criminal.
That's like those people accusing her of being guilty
by way of promiscuity because she is divorced from a Japanese fella.
It isn't against the law to visit someone in gaol.

So apart from her half brother ( with whom I believe she had little or no contact with)
and her father who was busted with a paltry amount of dope over 20 years ago .
I don't think it is unusual what so ever.

The other 9's surveillance is exactly what I'm talking about, surely the police could find one tiny link
between her and the pot.

That's why I think it's more likely in her case that she could be innocent.
She was probably just going on a holiday.
Where does a girl studying get that amount of dope without leaving a paper trail?

It's virtually impossible.
Think about things you've been caught for in your life.
There is always a sequence of events leading up to it.
It is easier to prove her guilty, all they need is one link besides the luggage.
They can't do it.
I doubt they ever will.

Charchrias,

Whilst watching my words I am aluding that there more involved than her who she is covering for.

Do you find it strange the Brother she travelled with fled the country as soon as he could? Didn't stay to support her.

Keep in mind also that the AFP had been investigating the Bali 9 for months prior to their arrest.

How do you know when her brother left?
Please supply link or proof.

Sorry, but she has been in gaol since the 8th October 2004 ( 8 months)
that's is more than enough time for her to crack or
for someone to come along with one miniscule iota
of evidence apart from the boogie board

I don't have a link. He did leave immediately but I do concede that whether guilty or not guilty, I would probably do the same. If they think Schappelle is guilty they might implicate me etc.

Your point about how come no evidence of her guilt has come to light is partially relevent. Firstly it has nothing to do with the Indonesian authorites. They can ask the AFP to investigate but thats where the responsibility lies. No one even knows if anyone has been investigated here in Australia in relation to this. Infact, now there has been a conviction I would say the heat will be turned on the relevent people here in Australia.

But the same can't be said about the baggage handlers, who have been under an intensive investigation for the last 9 months and no links to smuggling hash to Bali have been found. Infact it works against her because it has been thoroughly investigated.

Remember they were initially claiming that this was domestic smuggling between Brisbane and Sydney. Its far fetched to the extreme.

what happened to our well informed, thoroughly decent friend N. Hindmarsh fan? Did spontaneously combust after his little outburst at millersnose or is he flying to bali now to try and bust out "our" Schapelle?

From the smh:

A website urging Australians to boycott Bali in a bid to get Schapelle Corby released from jail was hacked an hour after going live today.

BanBali.com spokesman Simon Joseph said a graphic image had been put on the site and its creators were rebuilding it.

"We're working to get the site back up and running, it needs to be completely rebuilt," he said.

Mr Joseph said about 300 people visited the site in the first hour.

He said the site was created in the hope it would result in an "unconditional pardon" for Corby, who was found guilty on Friday of smuggling 4.1kg of marijuana into Bali and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Mr Joseph hopes the website will create enough political pressure from Australians, the Australian government and the Balinese people to "bring into Indonesian law the scope for unconditional presidential pardons for international prisoners".

As the law stands, Corby could not be pardoned unless she admitted guilt to the crime, Mr Joseph said.

"The Australian and Indonesian governments need to understand that Australians will not accept this situation and we, through our own democratic choice, are prepared to harm the economy of Bali by volunteering to ban holidays in Bali for as long as Schapelle Corby is in jail," Mr Joseph said.

"This is really an international issue and we are hoping we can change that law so that pardons can be unconditional for international tourists charged in Indonesia."

The site, created by a group of marketing industry workers, contains a pledge message and a picture of Corby behind bars.

It also suggests Australians holiday in Hawaii or Fiji instead of Bali, but Mr Joseph says he's not affiliated with those destinations.

He said the site was not a petition, but would contain the names of people who pledged not to visit Bali until Corby's release.

Mr Joseph said he had links with the Indonesia media and would make sure the site was well publicised in the Asian nation.

So this turd actually thinks that foreigners should have more rights in Indonesia than Indonesians? What an arrogant, supercilious, know-nothing f**ktard!

Willow - I haven't compared this case to anyone elses. Maybe if her lawyers could find a precident she mightn't be where she is now.

The "what if scenario" - I think I'd remove all evidence that the bag was mine, and be on the first plane back to Australia. Once back in Australia, I'd get some legal advice as to whether I declare whats happened to Australian authorities. They have to get me back to Indo first before charging and proscecuting me.

(I don't know whether that would be the best thing to do or not, but being back in Australia would definately be the safest thing)

As for the capital city smuggling thing - it's ingenious. It is a dead easy, anonymous way of getting drugs all over the country...and it's free! The baggage handlers get to drive into the airport, not get checked by customs going to and from work - it's a brilliant idea. It isn't that far fetched at all.

I think my issues are more with the justice process in Indo more than anything (she never really stood a chance whether she is innocent or not). I think he lawyers did an ordinary job (I'm no lawyer but even I could have come up with "cry and plead innocence" as a strategy), but I also think the Australian Government could have investigated claims a bit quicker than they did, and provide any written evidence/opinion alot quicker than they did (maybe while evidence was still admissable).

The thing that bugs me about the whole thing is that nobody has come out and said anything remotely bad about her. Think about it - the Bali 9 all had people come out and suggest there was some history behind it. But there is nothing in regards to Corby - everyone coming out is saying it would be out of character and wouldn't have the contacts to do the job.

(Maybe that what made her the perfect mule...)

I guess now they have some legal team that knows what they are doing and has had plenty of time to watch the case, they'll have a better chance of getting her off.

Jim, I'm not saying John Laws and his listeners are God (I don't usually even listen to the show, it's just that I'm not working today), but you'd expect there'd be a fair bit of support for her on that sort of thing. However, there doesn't seem to be. To use your analogy, it's like if even Peter Costello saying that families are worse off.

Go and read the Tele mate, couple of pages full of support for her... People have hung banners outside their homes with indonesia crossed out. Travel agents aren't going to talk up Bali and offer cheap packages to other destinations. No support, either your deaf or completely stupid.
