Should the Dolphins debut be delayed to 2024?

As I predicted, it didn’t. No extra $’s.
I don't think it would have brought in significant dollars, but it is a bargaining tool as the Dolphins will rate better in the Brisbane market than most of the competition. This means likely higher advertisement revenue for Broadcasters.

But nothing comparable to adding two teams with an additional game each round.

GWS Giants came dead last in their first 2 seasons, won 3 games all up in their first 2 seasons.... got better eventually and made a grand final, but still very modest support in Sydney, truck loads of money wasted on them.... Are we now saying they are the model on how the Dolphins should be set up?

Idiots with no idea are.

They have develop structures in place.

Bostock is pretty good. They will sit mid table which for a new club is fine

Typical bull in a China shop Vlandys. No Strategy, no investment, no idea.
Should have been two year build time and salary cap concessions to sign players outside current nrl plus relocation allowances for first two seasons. But no rush them and watch them be a basket case for first few years. You’d think they’d have learnt something from the titans.

Titans are a plastic club. Dolphins have structures in place they will play finals before Dogs or Tigers do.

Dogs final bound next year Not sure the Dolphins will be.

Good to have hope. Good luck with that. I will see what the final roster looks like when it is finished. Also depends who is coach and what changes they make. It is usually 2 seasons until you get a coaches system in place

The renogiated TV deal for 17 teams saw the NRL get an extra $100m from Fox over 5 years. This is what underwrote the expansion (https://www.google.com/amp/s/au.spo...-vlandys-foxtel-tv-rights-deal-051718199.html)

Whilst not all of that can he tied to the Dolphins, with some being natural growth off the back of an extended deal, changes in market confidence with regards to COVID-19 and the NRL being more valuable to Fox than when the previous extension was negotiated just 18 months before hand, the grant for the Dolphins isn't coming from the NRL savings pool.

There will be more games played over a season with a 17th team, with the total going from 192 to 204.

It's time to face reality: It is now June 2022, and the Dolphins are expected to be a fully functional, up and running League team with at least a top 21 players by November. That's 5 months.......Do any of us really see that happening? With where they're at right now? With the distraction of the World Cup waiting around the corner for a lot of players and coaches?

It might be time for the NRL to own up to blowing their load early on this. Right now we're dooming the Dolphins to a dead last finish for maybe their first 2 or 3 seasons until they can actually lure some players of worth. For my part I think they need another 12 months in the oven to make sure they can actually put up some sort of a fight, rather than start off as an embarrassment that nobody wants to support, basically the Titans 2.0. It's going to cause issues with the broadcast deal but what would the networks prefer: A team that can perform that actually draws viewers, or a cellar dweller with no profile and no history that couldn't fill a barn house with spectators?

Thanks for ur concern trolling

Absolutely not , they'll be fine.

As is being reported , Wayne has just about got his list .
A number of players haven't announced they've signed yet.

They'll be a mid table team & competitive next year for sure.

They'll do better than reds & crushers..

Sit the Broncos out for a year or two until an 18th team is ready. Allow the Dolphins first choice of the donkeys players.

Oh, and go f**k yourself on Redcliffe having no history. They are 4 decades older than your plastic franchise.

Haha. The no history part got me too..

I do not think they should wait another year.

The Broncos monopoly over the best QLD juniors is over, used to have all of Qld, then the cowboys started keeping most of thier good ones, the Melbourne started taking good ones - still yet to produce a Victorian, the seagulls|titans still bleed thier Palm Beach and Keebra lads to Brisbane hopefully they start keeping them, now Redcliffe will keep thiers.

Of course Bronco fans do not want a new QLD team further diluting thier once mighty advantage a monopoly gives.

Myth, Australian tv is not paying anymore for 17 teams in 2023 than it paid for 16 teams in 2018. The $100mill from fox was smoke and mirrors to help Vlandys get it over the line. If it was true the tv deal would have been $423mill a year but it isn’t, it’s $403mill.
