Gotta laugh at how some of the posters have changed their tune in the last 12 months. So much for Tinky the brilliant businessman.

I can't speak for my fellow LU Knights supporters, but I'm not regretting Tinkler's takeover of the club at all. Since his arrival the following things have been achieved:

• All our debts cleared and a $20 million bank guarantee put in place (thanks to the previous admin).
• Affordable membership packages that have led to some of the best crowds in the NRL.
• Signing of Wayne Bennett and the recruitment of Darius Boyd, Timana Tahu, Dane Gagai, Danny Buderus, Adam Cuthbertson, Beau Scott, Jeremy Smith, Willie Mason & Kade Snowden.
• Improved facilities and trainers (like Jeremy Hickmans) for the squad. No more shipping containers.

I'm not going to comment on how Tinkler conducts himself as a businessman. As the Knights owner he's already done more than enough for us, and I will always thank him for that. I'm a Knights supporter first and foremost and have seen many changes over the life of my club. The club is still standing and it always will. We can thank the likes of Nathan Tinkler and Robbie Tew for making sure of that.

Not trolling. Agree with everything you said, and most of the stuff in this thread really. Think the admin and members did a great job of getting as much out of Tinkler as possible, and getting the bank guarantee. Pretty much the perfect result for the club.

Just think its funny to see guys like Alex28 sucking his c**k about 12 months ago going on about how brilliant he is, when most people already had him pegged as the new Alan Bond who was cruising for a fall.

I am glad the guys in charge of the club during the takeover didn't have such a naive view.

Rogers contracted to Liverpool FC and Clarke with AIS. You don't get a higher pedigree than that.

For starters I was against the initial takeover - that is on the forum for you to find. I only got on board when the board got a better offer.

The guy is a more astute businessman than you think. Don't just read what the papers tell you and take it as gospel. I don't think he is dead and buried yet.

just thought some of the attitudes to tinky were pretty dumb. i have met the guy, have mates who have worked for him, and he is bogan scum who isnt half as smart as he would like people to believe. it was only a matter of time till he came unstuck. if this isnt the end, then it will be next time

Whilst the guy has made some dud investments when it comes to having fun (lack of control over the horse stud for starters), when it comes to making money the guy knows what he is doing. You don't get lucky turning bugger all into over a billion dollars. Yes that fortune has halved, however now he has coal production (as in a source of income) and not just speculating (or 'bets' as our jaded friend puts it).

I'm not going to say how much I know or how I know, but when he eventually gets his financed and assets in order (and he will) he'll be just fine. No doubt there are plenty of people willing him to fail that expect him to be a nice guy in business. The reality is that he's always been asset rich and cash flow poor, and part of that is using your creditors as a form of credit. Companies like BHP and Rio Tinto do it and people accept it. Tinkler does it and people whinge to the paper...
