Should we have a crack at signing Inglis?

With Cross having been released, and Inglis now seemingly on the open market.....surely the Knights have money to spare under the salary cap to entice Inglis to the Knights. If we signed him to a back ended deal where he makes more in the second and third year of his contract, we could pick him up.

We already made him an offer (and a rather big one at that) earlier this year, and were brushed just like everyone else...of course that doesn't mean we shouldn't have another crack, but I think we've done our recruiting for that part of the team now with Sau, Mad Dog and Likiliki in the centres for next year.

I think you blokes should be throwing everything you have at Inglis.

The Knights struggle to attract top-quality talent (but hey, so do my beloved Cowboys, and other regional teams like the Raiders and Warriors), but given that Inglis is from the mid-north Coast and supported the knights as a kid, you're in with a better than average shot.

1. Inglis
6. Mullen
7. Gidley
9. De Gois

14. Henry

Mighty fine looking spine right there. IMO Inglis is wasted at centre - he only played there for the Storm because Slater is the fullback.

Then you just need to buy a couple of props and a backrower - instead of our discards - and you're top 6 material, maybe even better.

I'd absolutely love to have him at the club, on his day I'd rate him as one of the best players and probably the best centre I've seen play (keeping in mind my League memory is a lot shorter than most other members on here). But him going to Souths is almost a done deal and he's already brushed us aside as Serc said.

But we can always dream...

Yeah number one player in the game. Ain't coming full stop though. Who cares what positoin he plays, just give him a jumper and the ball.

We should have a crack at getting Inglis to the club. Whilst we may have tried and failed in the past, this should not put us off in a renewed bid for his services. Besides, with Tinkler showing an interest in the club ... who knows he may actually throw some cash his way as an enticement. As they say, you never know until you have a go!!

Players can earn any amount they like in a third party agreement with someone not associated with the club as long as they don't use club or NRL logos.
Tinkler doesn't officially have anything to do with the Knights, and he could use Inglis as a big name to promote his horse racing ventures and the Jets even.

I floated that idea a few months back in relation to signing another player (Gasnier from memory), but apparently Tinkler is a no go because of something to do with his role at the club. Shame, we could have used his deep pockets...

At souths they are talking about a very good friend of the Holmes a Court family from Western Australia suddenly finding he needs to pay Inglis to be a role model for WA Aboriginals.

A good friend of Tinkler like Shiek bin ali whatsit could suddenly find a need to sign Inglis to promote camel racing in Saudi Arabia - or some scenario slightly more plausible than that.

Parramatta were "warned off" from making him an offer by his manager. No point us making an offer.

As I live in WA I can advise that the benefactor is Australia's richest man ... Andrew Twiggy Forrest. So money is no object for him.

Notwithstanding, I would love to see Nathan Tinkler put his hands in his pockets in an attempt to lure Greg Inglis to our Club given at this time he has no connections apart from being an avid supporter.

A big name signing would do wonders for our Club and supporters. To simply roll over because we think Souths have signed him (or are the front runners) would be foolish ... lets go all out and see what comes of it. Can't hurt ....

Who gives a crap about what his manager has allegedly said to Parramatta in regards to Inglis. If the Knights can come up with a decent package that is better than what any other club can offer, why would Inglis's manager not at least consider the offer.

If his manager isn't even going to consider our offer, why waste our time making it?

The deal is done people. Move along.

No chance of coming here guys.

If you want to see whether we are a shot at a player, look at who their manager is and some patterns will emerge.

There are a number of managers who, for some pretty obscene reasons, generally steer their players away from certain clubs.
