Should we keep Cayless?

I forgot to include freshy as well. I can't see him getting any more and will probably be asked the same question. Burt has already done it and Irvine played for free in his last year. Some of these guys are very loyal to BS and the club and will play for a price that pays the bills without being too exorbitant.

Will be interesting to see how many years the club offers Hindmarsh. I know 4 and 5 year deals are a risk but I think we should offer him a very long deal.

You wanna cut Cayless? You may as well tell all the other players and juniors that their spot is never safe and there is no such thing as being a Parramatta player for life. They may remember that when it comes to them having 5 or 6 clubs chasing their signature. Cayless is our captain, and the heart and soul of Parramatta.

Anyone who suggests Cayless should go is not a true Parramatta supporter in my opinion. With supporting the club you support the players, especially those who start their carreer with the club and have helped turn us around.

I think Parraren is pretty spot on!

There will be plenty of money free to upgrade Hindmarsh.

Nathan was playing some really good footy at the start of the year in the 2nd row, which is more of a shame that he had to get injured. Other thing to remember is that he is about 26 now ( even though it feels like he's been around forever) and it is around this age that the props really hit their peak form. The best could be yet to come, if he stays injury free. [-o<

Brisbane famously punted Wally Lewis, and never looked back.

As for Cayless - I love him on the field - he playes with the pride and passion that the jumper deserves. However, let HIM decide if he is a parra man for life by agreeing to his next contract.

Offering all available funds to Hindy is rediculous. We need only offer him enough money to keep him here. That should not necessarily rob Cayless of money.

Finally, one point. Back in 01 we offered big contracts to Cayless, Vella, Hindmarsh, and Lyon - being our 4 best hopes for the futire, and (with freshy) the blokes we would build the side around.

Pick 4 now, and you have Hindy, Cayless, Morris and probably Dykes. The point? Things change. Caylo is no good in hospital, no matter HOW good he is.

And another point. Possibly our most inspirational captain ever was Ray Higgs. PLayed his tits out every time he pulled on the blue and gold jumper. PLayed the 76 GF with a broken jaw, in the hope to leading the Eels to victory. Hit like a cement truck in defence. Taught Ray Price everything he knew about toughness, guile and passion.

Hiss stayed 3 seasons only.

Cayless, whatever his future holds, is already an Eel legend.

I'm in two minds :? .......i really don't know how to answer this, all i will say is let's see if Nathan stays injury free next year, if he does??...he's worth every cent, if he breaks another??....i will have doubts.

Injury free without a question

but he has played a grand total of 9 games in 2003 and 6 games in 2004 and with him not due back till round 23 that is a maxium of 9 games in 2004 18 games out of a possible 48 isn't really that good.

but I'd still keep him
