When you think of ratings, wasn’t a wonderful job those Knights morons from Cessnock and Kurri Kurri did for the Footy Show. Talking of competitive sides, how many Channel 9 matches did the Knights get the year they won the spoon. How many games did they get on Channel 9 in 2007 and 2008 when they ran 15th and 9th. When you think of major sponsors, where would the Knights be without the intervention of the CFMEU to get them a sponsor. When you think of the salary cap, when other clubs were forced to let their star players go to Union or Super League. All but the Knights pill popping superstar who was thrown all that money from News Ltd and Channel 9 to stay in his living hell fish bowl. They even allowed him to play in Super League one season. When you think of stadiums, the State and Federal Governments throwing 10 of millions of dollars at one particular clubs stadium and which club wouldn’t pay the rent.
The Knights, always good for a laugh,

What can I say, it's good they give a sh*t about us

Maybe a fixed tv schedule for 20 rounds to give fair exposure for every club, then the final 8 weeks of the year channel 9 get to pick the games, so they show the matches that matter and the blockbusters going into the finals.

That would be a great set up IMO. I think the AFL is looking at doing something like this at their next deal.

How about getting a decent team first and being competitive?

Hmm, how many wooden spoons have we won compared to the Dogs in the last ten years?

2-0 to the Dogs.

In 2009, Canberra beat almost every top eight side, including the premiers with narrow losses to the Dogs, Sea Eagles and Eels.

I prefer us to be on Fox anyway. At least Warren Smith can get the players names right unlike Ray Warren, who has absolutely no idea about any Canberra player.

That sux pretty hard, I know how it feels from 95 to 2004 we got a TOTAL of 1 game shown on Free to air!

And in the pre-Viewer Choice days, even on Foxtel/Austar if you were a Cowboys fan you had to wait til 9.30pm on a Saturday to watch a delayed coverage of there game.

So for for 10 seasons as a Cowboys fan if they played on a Saturday night and you weren't at the game, it was IMPOSSIBLE to watch them play live.

and that's why we need a Saturday night game and the regional stations should be allowed to replay their teams games.

I love people who make juniors references as if no team buys players anymore.

runatme, you look like a Sharks fan. To illustrate my point, please tell me where the following players came from:

Paul Aiton
Trent Barrett
Dean Collis
Adam Cuthbertson
Albert Kelly
Grant Millington
Taulima Tautai
Anthony Tupou

Point being - every club buys players. Hell, you took two Bulldogs last season.

who gives a crap who's on FTA the better coverage is on Pay TV anyway.
I would rather watch the replay at 6pm of the Sunday game then watch it on ch9 and even if the Raiders get some friday night games it will be the 2nd game and how many people bother to stay up and watch the full 2nd game?

the day will come where it will be all paytv and origin will be pay per view.
It will happen, so start saving.

It will probably be around the same time I stop following the game. Sports which go to Pay TV only lose ground big time. Sports can't afford not to have an element on Free to Air TV.

I don't get your involvement in this thread - is it whinging about why FTA wont waste their money showing your average team, or is it how jealous you are of the Knights?

Jealous of the Knights? Stop it, you’re killing me....
To me, the Pacific Islander Knights are the most boring team in the comp.
I would say Channel 9 have made some terrible business decisions in the last 5 years. I wouldn't put them forward as an organisation that makes sound business decisions. Look at their once highly rating Footy Show.
The two most embarrassing things on TV this year was the “Black Faces” thing on Hey Hey Its Saturday the “Elton Johns” sketch on the Footy Show.

Are you f**king serious?

Every club buys players.

Some clubs buy about 80% of their squad, others have a bit of respect for the game of rugby league and do the hard yards through junior development. There are others that have the right balance (I HATE the Broncos, but they are the perfect example of the right balance).

If all clubs had the Buldogs/Roosters mentality of attempting to buy premierships the talent pool would be empty very soon. Don't worry, I am not expecting you to understand this logic.

Naah...course not.

.
And I suppose you dont? Why are you here then?
You cared enough to reply...off you tooddle, redneck.
What do you expect dipstick, you call me a racist and don’t you to piss off?
Crawl back under your rock.
You’ve got nothing. I never made a racist comment.
I was only responding to the Knights fans who think the Raiders are boring and that I think they are boring with the players Brain Smith brought in to replace their former local heroes. And you can quote me on that dickhead,

just a stupid one.

such as?

I think the OP has a valid point. The fact that some clubs get huge exposure and some clubs very little is a massive inequity in a competition that is *supposed* to be equitable. Exposure becomes its own feedback loop.
