The question people need to ask themselves is will that grinding type of football win a comp in 2020 and tbh I don’t think it will
If you don’t have something / someone dynamic you will be amongst the “almost or could have been” teams which is the catch cry of our current coach and Flanno hasn’t demonstrated to me that he is a great attacking coach.
If you can’t score runaway length of the field tries and if you can’t execute classy attacking raids then comps will be very few and far between
Bit harsh OT. I have seen Cronulla score some great attacking tries in past few years especially when they had Holmes Maloney and some quick backs. Under Flanno. I enjoyed watching them play or us just me starved of decent football watching a McGregor coached side too much....waiting..waiting for them to click

If Frizell ended up in Newcastle that'd be hard to cop for most Dragon's fans I reckon, not trying to have a go at Newcastle but they're no closer to winning the comp than the Dragons are and yes, I know my club is shit too.
Frizell is a quality player, but we also have a very good young edge backrower in Jackson Ford. I think he is ready to step up to first grade this year. He may even provide more in attack than Frizell does.

Sadly I think that Newcastle (and your club) are closer to winning the title than we are, unlikely though that may be.

While Ford is developing well and brings some variety to our edge I fear he is a long way behind Frizell regarding impact and punch. He will continue to improve but Friz going would hit us hard.

By next year Ford will be an adequate replacement for Frizell. He may even improve our attack.

I hope he turns out to be the player you like, you can't coach experience though.

After witnessing Frizell’s abilities at SOO level, I’m unsure how anyone could question his attacking attributes. The bloke is simply incompetently coached at his club.
When T Sims can hit holes on both sides of the field, then I think Tyson has to take responsibility for the lines that he runs.

I say sign Frizell asap. We need him in the backrow as an edge forward or at lock. Merrin should be the run on prop with Vaughan.

Our pack definitely looks much better with Frizell in the side.

I don't disagree that our side looks better with Frizell in the side, but we have to weigh up his salary vs Ford's salary. We also have to assess if Ford will as good or even better than Frizell in the near future. I believe that Ford has a pretty high ceiling. I also believe that he may provide us with more attack than Frizell. Ford is also at the beginning of his career, while Friz will be 29 next season and in the twilight of his career. Ford looks like a very good footballer. How high do you think we should go for Frizell and who would you keep if you had to choose between Friz or Ford?

Yes we could play Friz lock, I think that could be his best position, but I think that is dependable on if DeBelin is found guilty or not. We would also have the option of letting DeBelin go and keeping both Friz and Ford. I think Friz may be around 200K more than JDB.

For round 1 I would like to see a pack of

13 Friz
12 Ford
11 T Sims
10 Vaughan
9 Hunt
8 Merrin (but maybe is is too small to play prop at the reported 98kgs)

14 Graham
15 K Sims
16 Kerr
17 Host

Frizell's style of play is suited to origin. He is a tough non nonsense forwards, who plays straight and hard. The best game he played in origin was when he played lock. No argument that Friz is incompetently coached, but Friz should have taken it upon himself to run better lines than he currently does.

Wouldn’t he be going by the coaching plan at club level i.e. as a battering ram only?

If he's named stand in captain while McInnes is out I would take that as he's signed elsewhere.
B Moz revisited.

I don't think it is a Ford v Frizell consideration. If De Belin becomes available in 2021 and if he wants to stay, then it should be a Ford v Host consideration.

I think that there issues with our club, it might be that the Knights are offering. him well over what we are. I think the Knights are offering 4 year contract over our three year contract.
Of we then have the elephant in the china shop, McIdiot, maybe Tyson has had enough of him and seeking assurances that he will be gone this season
The.longer this drags out Tyson goes, I just hope that nose not happen.

I don’t think the comparison is there yet And premature. As for Ford offering more in attack I don’t know what you have seen to make that statement I am baffled. Ford has proven nothing in 1st grade yet. Oh he chased down a kick and beat the opposition to the try line against?
Sorry Frank at this stage I would rather let Ford go if it meant to keep Frizz

Mary staunchly said late last year that Tyson is not going anywhere while he is coach. Quoting how much they have been through together
Maybe Mary is going!
