After Brett Morris’ decision to leave, it was painfully obvious that players have a serious issue about Paul McGregor.

Unfortunately, the club doesn’t see it.

The timing off this announcement is poor. However, it gives the Dragons plenty of time to determine their squad for next year and hopefully Shane Flanagan will be part of the committee to help with the determination of the players they need to retain, those to let go and those to be targeted to join the club.

My suspicions are the primary reasons for his switch aren’t solely to do with trying to win a comp. It was more than a rumour he was affected by how the Dragons ‘managed’ the JDB incident. It was about this time his performances were a little less intense. Awesome player and I has it a guess a top bloke, sad to see him leaving. Leaves a big hole

I was always looking beyond this season, (well before coronavirus hit) and hoped beyond hope that we were going to see a major roster Rehaul in 2021. It was obvious something in the club was remiss.

Now added to the long list of changes is Friz and most likely JDB, Luch) Strangely enough I feel the more change the better. I feel we almost need a metamorphosis to occur. I’m totally convinced big changes are needed. We need to bring in fresh ideas, the right personnel who have a strong emphasis towards rebuilding. I feel it’s our best hope and I’m sure when Friz signed with Newy he was searching for a release from what appeared to be a festering culture. When or if we resume we may be very different, I’m not at all negative about that prospect.

Very smart attacking coach is Adam O'Brien. He also would have learnt a lot from Bellamy and Robinson when he was assistant coach at the Storm and Roosters. Both these clubs attack have suffered as a consequence of O'Brien leaving those clubs. He also would have learned a fair bit from Fitzgibbon in the defence department . Frizell would be cocker hoop about going to the Knights .

Absolutely right DD- I got hammered by posters just before Frizz signed with the Knights when I dared to suggest that if he was serious about joining a team that had a chance of competing for the premiership before he retired and the Dragons and the Knights were his options, Newcastle was his only choice.

After their display against the Raiders, we know that, under O'Brien, they are a real threat. Their forwards are a good mix of the experienced and raw talent.Yes Ponga remains unsigned beyond 2021 but, in Pearce, they have a half back who at last is consistently performing at his elite best, an exceptional centre in Best and a potential replacement for Ponga if he leaves in Tex Hoy.

Just hope that Nathan Brown, who lost the dressing room at the Knights but reportedly retains support at SGI, isn't a cheapie option for a coaching replacement when the Board is forced, kicking and screaming, into biting the bullet on Mary. But we have a Richard Cranium Chairman who, despite extending Mary for a king's ransom, now doesn't want to pay more than half a mill for a coach- so anything is possible.
