Well, they're a lot closer to being premiership material than we are- widely tipped to be challenging for top 4 this year, an up and coming coach who's worked under Bellamy and Robinson and a couple of extremely promising backs.

Working under a successful coach is by no means a guaranteed success. Look at Steve Price as a prime example. Personally, I feel Newcastle will struggle this year; releasing Nathan Brown was a myopic mistake, In the same way, I predict Demetriou will work be a “silver bullet” for Souths once Bennett hits the highway after 2021.

Our only problem with the team is the current head coach and his favourite centre pairing.

With Flanagan and a few of our young guns stepping up in 2022, we will have the backline and hopefully forward pack to match it with any NRL team.

Don’t hold your breath over the first part of your initial sentence in your second paragraph.

Well, Aitken dropped for round 1 and Lafai moved to right centre.
The SGI table a 3 year deal to the Manly right centre for next season and beyond.
And yes good things come in three's, moves are a-foot to punt Greenburg from the NRL's CEO position.

So I'd say there will be a good chance that we have a pair of good centres for next season and a CEO with a chance to reduce Flanagan's suspension by 12 months.

Got to disagree that the only problem with the current team is the coach and our current centre pairing- we are still debating the best halves combination- Hunt/Norman, Norman/Sailor, Norman/Clune....Jayden Sullivan may well be the answer in the future but as of now, effectively half our spine (plus an unproven full-back) is still being debated.

I have seen enough to say that the teams defence has improved significantly over the off-season. I hope this is validated on Monday night.

If our forward pack fires, Norman and Hunt will create the magic we expect from them.

I'm hoping Lomax has a good game at the back and Ravalawa has a good game on the right wing.

Luke v Britain and Host v Ford are tow selection questions I have issues with.

But I am excited to sit down with beer in hand and watch our all mighty Dragons perform in round 1.

I meant don’t hold your breath re: Flanagan.
