Simmons

I am sorry but for me he has to back to PL for a while.

Gasnier made a mockery of his defence in the first half and in the second half his two dropped balls led to tries which effectively ended any chance we had of winning.

I know its harsh to critise him as any 19 yr old playing first grade is doing bloody well and I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt but this has confirmed to me he is not quite up to first grade standard just yet. We have plenty more experienced outside backs in PL so lets use them.

With Riek and his hammy sharks fans may well be seeing two different wingers go round in First Grade Next Week.

Simmons is 2004's version of Nick Youngquest.

McGoldrick and Saleh should be the wingers next week.

he was bad but that last try where gasnier scored, all i wanted to know was where the hell was the centre, bloody forgot who it was now bailey or vagana, either way they should have helped the poor kid out.

Doesn't Simmonds play on our right hand side and our problem with gasnier was down the left. I was getting pretty pissed so I'm not sure. I thought Bailey and Rieck were the big problem. regardless Simmonds dropped a couple of crucial balls in the 2nd half - Pretty sure one or two of them was stripped illegally though.

He is the goods. Probably needs a spell in PL to restore some confidence and sort out or two defiencies in his game but I reckon he's goona be a star for us on what I've seen.

Gasnier made a mockery of everyone tonight, not just simmons. Dave had a forgettable one but he will bounce back. Hopefully ET can give him a bit of tackling training. One thing I do like is how safe he is under the high ball. The kid certainly isn't dogging it, he is still learning. Maybe he does need more time in reserves but please don't write him off.

Merritt, Saleh and Kent are great. Either will please me.

I rate Kent highly, hopefully he gets a shot.

Simmo WILL be good
Just not this year

Put him back in PL or even Flegg, seriously, I knew he shouldnt be there tonight...same with Rieck, he shouldnt have been there either, our wingers are a liability, we have better and they should be in the team ASAP

I think Merrit and Saleh should be in. Once Simmons fixes up his defence he will be a gun, he catches the hi ball very well, but hes being caught out in defence to frequently now, I think tho last nite it was in part I think Vagan or Baileys fault.

Im not giving up on him at all.
He was tearing PL up before he got his call up. Like i said IMO he is just not ready yet. He needs to work on certain parts of his game. He is obviously a gun under the high ball and he needs to get other aspects of his game to that standard. We have more experienced players in PL which should be utilised at the moment.

Give Simmonds a break he is a kid and needs the experience just like Youngquest needed.I think Vangana should have a good long look at himself he was a turnstile at the dogs and Bailey wasn't much better.Whats with Franze he is a natural centre looked alright before he got injured last year.

bailey and vagana werent that bad. Vagana still looks dangerous with the ball but reick and simmons need to be replaced. They have been the weakness for the last 3 weeks and their time is up

I don't think anyone is being particularly harsh on Simmo. He's going to be a good player, but he's got some rough edges in his game at the moment. For starters his only real experience on the wing has come in first grade. If we plan on using him as a winger, we need to send him back to reserve grade to play wing. I've never understood the philosophy of promoting centres and fullbacks to play wing in first grade.

He needs to work on his tackling, and continue to hit the weights hard. I think I predicted earlier this year that he may be no more ready this year than last year, as his offseason injury probably stopped him hitting the weights as much as what he needed.

I have little doubt he's going to star for us one day, but he needs some more tought footy in reserve grade to get him ready. Step up Nathan Merritt.
