No, don't drop him.
After thinking about it, I think it woould be better to drop Merrit, put Simmo on his wing & promote Saleh to Simmos wing.

OR!!!!

Throw Makisi on merrits wing & Saleh on Simmos wing.

Please excuse my ignorance. But who is this Makisi that you speak so highly of BTR?

Saleh's got to come back based on his recent PL form. And Merritt has to be dropped.

Makisi did look bloody good on Saturday but I'm not sure I'd be bringing him through just yet. I'd give Simmo another couple of games - if he's still so expensive in defence after the Manly and Souths games, then he probably has to go. But he's still learning - I just think he needs to be given a bit more back up in defence.

i think.... :?

part of our trouble is we really just aren't sure exactly what our first choice team is - which players in what position ? experimenting ain't exactly ideal but i think we definitely need to tinker a bit to correct anumber of glaring problems

Peach
Merritt
Vagana
Ross (if we are serious about rebuilding, it's time to start blooding these guys)
Rieck
Aitken (Give him a shot, what's the worst that could happen, we lose by 30 instead of 20?)
Kimmorley

My backline would be:

Peach
Merritt
Vagana
McGoldrick
Riek (if available, if not Saleh)
Aitken
Noddy

I like Ross McSharkie, but if your looking at young guys to blood i think Pelo is going better than him at the moment and would not let anyone down if given a shot at first grade. Having said that id have McGoldy in front of all of them purely on last weeks performance.

Id also like to give Aitken a chance and see what he can strike up down the right side with Vagana and Merrit. Like other people have said it would do more harm than good and i dont think Aitken would lose much confidence if the team lost, or he didnt put in one of his best performances and went straight back to PL.

I just think we should give Ross a taste and see how he handles it. How long have we been talking Aitken up. Give him a shot while Bird is out.

I like the idea of Gallen in there alot, but I am dying to see what an Aitken/Kimmorley combination can cook up...

I've been watching Simmons all year and I rate him as crap, too timid, too small, defence @ 20% max, scored one good try where he jumped up and caught it.

He costs us minimum one, usually two tries per game, and we need one of the players from reserve grade in asap and keep McGoldrick in that center position on the left hand side and leave Vagana and Merritt alone.

I have no idea why Raper persists in Simmons if we have players like Matt Seers in reserve grade. There could not be any player in the comp more unfit than Jason Williams, although he is an impact player, we need someone to replace Simmons on the wing asap.

Your post may have had some credibility, until you wrote this. Seers has been a bystander all year in first division. An absolute waste of space who has done nothing good and plenty bad.

I agree that Simmons needs more time to develop, but Saleh is the man to plug the gap. However, I'm happy for Raper to keep Simmo in the top grade if he thinks its the best thing for the team.

I think you are being far too nice to this *new* poster Zed.

I don't think it looked like having any credibility from the word go.
scored one good try where he jumped up and caught it.

The try he scored steam rolling the Origin class Slater makes me wonder if you have been watching all Sharks games.

then the crap about Seers. What a laugh.

Maybe Seers has been crap, but please get anyone in for Simmons. The try against Melbourne was ok, as was the catch for a try, but his positional play is shockin and he will continue to get targeted by every team from now on.

I hope he proves me wrong but as he is going to be targeted so much I doubt he'll handle it.

the brutal truth is that simmons is a good player currently being targetted by other teams, and is a factor with relation to our leaking points problem. I cant remember who it was but a late try by the storm a few weeks ago in the corner really showed simmons in a bad light. The bloke ran straight over him and if he was a hurdle.

I have faith in raper but if we are in a tight game and a late try is scored, we probally wont be bagging kimmorley for his kicking.
