I'm bloody glad I backed him to come good, he didnt let me down on Saturday night.

That Try was awesome and he left senior players speachless, he had no right to score that try, great effort.

But it's not that try, but what it will do for his confidence with ball in hand that excites me the most.

A great slap on the back for a young kid with plenty of ability.

Just watching a review of the game and it really shows that his defence is bad  . His attack has been awesome especially that try in which he got throught Slater but it seems the Melbourne side targeted his corner scoring 2 tries their. When we face the Roosters Im sure the same will occur :( . Work needed thier. Never the less, a great player of the future

Yes Bailey has to stop letting the faster threequarters get outside him, leaving Simmo a 2 on 1, 1 on 1 he goes OK.
Our left side has been our weakness, so yes the roosters will explore that.
We will have to compete possession wise to trouble them, Simmo will go all right.

Mr Angry has picked up on a point I was going to make, I think Simmo's defence is less than optimal at the moment and it will improve but what about Phil Bailey? I havent seen him cop a serve on here yet but he directly let two tries in, in the first half by allowing players to get on his outside and create an overlap. It's interesting to note that Simmo wasnt a winger in premier league either, he was a centre or fullback which is one of the major reasons he's not as good as say, Saleh, in defensive positional play. If Bailey is too slow against the quicker teams I wouldnt mind seeing Simmons have a dig in the centres. I'd perhaps test that theory out against Manly. BTW I must give Frenzy credit for bringing up the point (off the forums) that a good PL centre doesnt necessarily make a good NRL winger, particularly in positional play.

Good points SS.
Thats why if Raper wanted Simmons to play wing at NRL he should have learnt it a bit more in PL and should still probably go back to PL to learn it. I think his technique needs working on too. He goes to high and is not strong enough to do so so he gets bounced off easily. Personally Simmons would not be in my team, but Raper knows more about football than any of us here and knows what he is doing by including Simmons.
I think i mentioned somewhere that Bailey at times hasnt helped Simmons and if Simmons stays in First grade their combination and communication would only get better one would hope.

It's more a question of if Bailey stays in the centres - which I sincerely hope he doesn't - he belongs in the pack.

I didn't know Simmons was originally centre - why not play him there? Let Simmons, McGoldrick, Franze fight for the O/S centre position and let Rieck, Merrit and Saleh fight for two wing positions. Their all young and all pretty good so the guys with the best work ethic are going to get the guernsey.

BUT Bailey has to go back to the pack.

I'd like to see Bailey return to the pack as well but I don't see a better option at left centre at this stage. Simmons needs to build on what he has done so far. It may be too early for him at centre.

Scored a pretty decent try on the weekend, and ran over the Billy "Golden Child" Slater to do it. MUST be good hey?!?

Id imagine for that try he got, it was very good. But wouldnt you think his poor defence would have kept him out of it? Those things are a load of s**t anyway

Yes, he gave a disgraceful try away today and hes been given away in previous games also. That try tonight wasnt just a poor error it was a f**king shocker, talk bout stuffing it up big time!

I don't care that he scored a 70m try, I could have outrun the slow arse prick called Hodges.

Give Franze a run in the centres.
If McGoldrick has to play chuck him on the wing, if not, then give Saleh a run again.

There wasnt anything in his try anyway, any winger would have put that one home, simple catch and run bloody fast job. I thought Id neva say this but I'd prefer Riek to take his place.

Chuck Franze on the wing. Mcgoldy was one of our better players last night. What is with all the hate?

I though McGoldrick went all right tonight, created a few opportunities for Simmons.

Simmons really struggled with the high ball tonight. Two of his drops led to tries. I saw him make a tackle on Hodges, which was good. I'm not sure he's up to first grade standard defensively yet.

Jeez, I wish Franze would recapture some of his 2002 form.

I dont think there's been any Goldy hate. He has a ripper game tonight and I've turned from critique to supporter, his defence was reasonable and his attack top noch, the Sharks player of the match for mine.
