I agree. Thats the first time I've thought McGoldrick played well.

I'm not sure what to do with Simmons. He's usually pretty good under the high ball, so I'm not sure what went wrong. Our reserve grade wingers were Seers, who was ordinary and Saleh who is a long way from being a game breaker.

If we need a new winger I'd still call for Dimitri Pelo but it aint gonna happen as he's in the centres in Flegg. Franze is still playing like a reserve grader.

I think Saleh, he didnt go that bad in PL and from what I saw off some grubbers he picked up well he has a good footy brain and can read plays well, unlike Simmons

Saleh was fantastic!
Of all players at Shark park tonight, there was 1 game breaker.
& It was Saleh through his unbeleivable reading of the game.
There was 6 of us there.
Tell me I'm wrong.
He stopped 5 tries alone through reading the play precisely.

CYA simmo Hello Saleh.

Next week's team might look like this;

Fullback : David Peachey
Left Wing: Hassan Saleh
Left Centre: Nigel Vagana
Right Centre: Ryan McGoldrick
Right Winger: Nathan Merritt

Left Right Out: David Simmons

Surely Simmons has seen the last of first grade for awhile anyway.

How has Matt Seers form been?

Merrit worse? I dont think so, althought he didnt contribute to much he made 1 ok break towards the end of the game, his defence was reasonable and under the high ball he was perfect, taking was hard balls

saleh copped a shlacking earlier this season which i felt was undeserving. Simmons has had a fair go and i know that he needs time but give saleh a go.

You mean balls under pressure or higher balls, because from what I remember there was little to no wind at all, Im not saying he's the cause of our problems its just an indication of an underperforming backline. I shudder to say it but our most consistent back is Bailey.

Simmons has to go.

I watched Flegg yesterday and really liked what i saw of Pelo. He fires up and goes pretty hard in attack and defence where most of our wingers you couldnt get 'boo' out of them. He was playing fullback and was good when it came to defending against kicks being put in whether the be high or grubbers. Realisitcally he wont get a shot a first grade yet.

Id like to give Saleh a go. He didnt put a foot wrong when he was in firsts and from what i saw in PL last night he deserves another crack at it.

Bronx Goodwin could go alright too at wing if given an opportunity he went well in PL as well.

Simmons made 2 high-profile mistakes that ultimately cost us 2 tries. In other games I've been very impressed with how good he is under the high ball. Last night he just seemed initimidated.

Also remember that Stevo gave the ball back to the opposition through dropping the ball in the play-the-ball (which he does every week) which also led to a try. In fact, Stevo plays the ball illegally almost every time he does it (gets up by putting the ball on the ground) and if any ref starts getting narky about it, he'll be in trouble.

I think what we have to avoid is dropping someone because they have an ordinary game. IN general, I've liked what I've seen of Simmons, but last night wasn't a very good one. I'm still inclined to perservere with him.

I agree with Comet - Merrit was worse: he was hardly there. When he returned kicks he just ran slowly up to the defense without any fire - like Peachey at his worst and without the guile. Merrit to me looks like he doesn't know what's happening. MAybe he'll come good but the two games I've seen him play, don't inspire me with confidence.

I quite liked what I saw of Saleh earlier in the year, abd if he's playing that well in PL, then give him a go on Merrit/Rieck's wing

Simmons wasnt just bad in last nights game.
Every game he has played he has done something which has led to trys. He is just too much of a liability.
Surley Raper just cant persist with him any longer. We will have to wait till tuesday to see what happens.
I dont mind Merrit i think he should stay at the moment.

in past weeks and this week he has made one or to glaring errors that have led to tries, other than that he has been good , impressive even in most areas.

DO we sack him ?

I think it would do more harm than good to be honest.

No, don't drop him.
After thinking about it, I think it woould be better to drop Merrit, put Simmo on his wing & promote Saleh to Simmos wing.

OR!!!!

Throw Makisi on merrits wing & Saleh on Simmos wing.

I've had enough of Simmons he is to bad to be true, get rid of him and IMO Goldie is still short of 1st grade standard although I admit he performed better tonight than in the past.

yeah at least mcgoldy had a go last night, but he's still too lightweight and dodges the front-on defence.

i'm all for saleh being promoted please. always have been. he's better than simmons, merritt or reick by far. this has gone on long enough time for simmons to develop in PL . there's no shame in that for a 19 y.o. kid who's only been playing the game for 3 years.
