Skandalis

Played excellent tonight and I think he showed that he deserves some rep football this season.

He would almost definately be in line for a City spot, but does anyone think he could be a bolter for Origin?

I think there's probably one bench spot for a prop up for grabs, and I'd bet that next week's City/Country could provide the answer.

If Davico, O'Hara and Skandalis play in that game (as they should), you'd have to think that the better performer would get that spot. I can't really think of any other props that deserve that spot, as O'Meley has only been back two weeks.

He could be a bolter but just like with the 50/50s the rep spots unfortunatly rarly go to the form players, just the name players

I would actually prefer him not to be selected because we need him, but he would deserve a call-up IMO.

City-Country should be an indicator.

He'd be lucky to get a bench spot for the Blues IMO but not undeserved if he did, hes been playing against the best props in the game for close on 10 years now....he'd handle origin.

Skandalis has been one of the form front rowers of the comp to date and showed again last night why he should get a City jumper.

Chook.

Agreed, and well said.

Cheers.

Lets have a look at some numbers for this year.

Most Hit-ups/Runs
Anthony Minichiello 146
John Skandalis 129
Shane Webcke 120
Martin Lang 117
Lance Thompson 117

Most Metres Gained
Anthony Minichiello 1423 @ 203 per game
Lance Thompson 1041 @ 149
Eric Grothe 1005 @ 144
Clinton Schifcofske 989 @ 165
Jason Stevens 979 @ 163
Shane webcke 950 @ 136
Matt Bowen 927 @ 185
Chris Hicks 898 @ 128
Ben Hornby 890 @ 127
John Skandalis 880 @ 147

He is also up with the big boys in tackles made.

Skando is playing his arse off and is more deserving of a state cap than almost anybody else in the game at the moment.

Unfortunately I don't think he'll even get noiced because, as Raider_69 said, the selectors only seem to pick names, not form players.

If skando doesn't make it I'd really like to see O'Hara there, he deserved a spot last year.

If they don't pick Skandalis for NSW Origin (even on the bench), the selectors are stupid.

No disrespect to the other props in contention for a jersey.

Skandalis deserves a jumper, nothing more needs to be said. This guy makes a combined hitup/tackle total of 50 nine games out of ten, and is always in there doing the dirty work. Of course, as a qld'er, him not getting selected would just be a boost for me and the maroons, but he definitely deserves a bench spot. Davico, Bailey, Clinton and Skandalis should be the props used for origin.

Skando is a workhorse who fully deserves a city-country spot

He won't, and shouldn't be, selected for origin.

Origin footy demands more than just hard workers - to win you need props that can make every single run count and Skando is way behind the top props in that regard - an average of 6 and a half metres per hit-up just doesn't cover it no matter how many of them you make...not when you are facing guys like webke that are capable of so much more.

Well said unit, both Skandalis and O'Hara would be very worthy of selection.

It's funny that everyone has been pushing for O'Hara, but most Canberra fans think that Davico has been by far the better of the two over the first two months. But then again he's 30, so I have a feeling that he won't debut in Origin at this time in his career.

Hey brook, if he was a bloody Balmain junior you'd be calling for him to be king of the planet.

I'm inclined to agree here. I'm all Balmain, but not blind, and Skandalis has been one of our best, if not the best, for quite some time.

Very underrated player, although he has been getting some more credability in recent times. I think he will be in the city team no doubt, and deserves to be on the bench for NSW, although I doubt that will happen. They'll probably pick Ryles or something... Although, he deserves to be there, I don't think the selectors will pick him. If he wore a St. G-I, Roosters, or Knights jumper he'd have been there a while ago.

He should have debuted for NSW in 2002 after being easily the best front rower in the city/country game, but got over looked!

very good player, good luck to him, he deserves some success.

Bull

Like I said he is well deserving of city-country, he's had his best season so far and has probably been our best player all year.

HOWEVER he is not origin class - if you honestly think he has the same impact on a game as the top class props who WILL get the origin jerseys than you are the one that needs to take off the glasses and not me.

Why don't you ask yappy if he thinks he's an origin class prop? when he finishes laughing at you try and accuse him of being biased towards Balmain players

Ask Yappy?

Yappy doesn't even follow the Wests Tigers. How would he know?

And please, I defy anyone to go to the Wests Tigers forum here and tell me it isn't basically a Wests Magpies/Balmain Tigers Premier League Forum. You, Yappy and that idiot Tigger should be all be banished to the NSWRL forum.

Every thread you start is about Premier League or congratulating a Balmain junior for making the "big step".

You're as blinkered as anyone in LU and your opinion on Skando is as welcome as dung on a donut.
