Spot on, Slater has pace and evasive skill that is all.
Which are both incredibly important for a modern day fullback.
Of course lets just ignore hes fantastic support play (hes ability to time his run onto kicks is second to none), great cover defense and goal line defense and the ability to read attacking kicks (mostly grubbers) better than any other fullback i have watched.
The only real criticism of Slater is that he makes the occasional mistake. That is fair enough but he makes a sh*tload of great plays that more than makes up for that.
I think the fact that his defense is completely overlooked is the most annoying thing. He gets compared to fullbacks like Stewart, Hayne and Hunt but none of them are even close to Slater when it comes to defense.
If a player makes a break against the storm you can be certain Slater will get them. On the goal line he is nearly always there to try and wrap up the ball and is far more successful at this than any other fullback bar maybe Hodgsen when he was still over here.
